Emergency manager Jonathan Reimer shares insights on making big decisions in challenging circumstances, drawing from his wildfire response experiences. He discusses the interplay between rational thinking and intuition, emphasizing the importance of starting with a systematic ‘size-up’ before relying on gut feelings.

    Really really enjoyed this

What was said around the 9:42 mark reminded me of a line I heard in season 4 of “Succession” from the character Ian Maatsen that goes “Analysis + Capital + Execution = Success”

no one talks about the ebook Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki because its take on attraction is too raw and real for most to handle

Fundamentally philosophy is search for truth. Logic and the scientific method are born from philosophy. The scientific method is our best route to truth. Belief/disbelief is philosophical suicide. Belief/disbelief based deductions end with belief/disbelief based organizations in the control system taking advantage. Belief/disbelief is psychological pathogen mind control, a destroyer of logic, knowledge, and freedom.

    Research then intuition.
If people could process thought in that order, the world would be a better place.

The bat is £100 MORE so the remaining 10 has to be split between the two items. £105 is £100 more than £5. They total £110.

      January 3, 2025 at 5:07 am

@HannahBW-k3i  how the right answer is 120

Even better when the size up was done as an exercise a few month before a real fire… Because we hadn’t had one from the east so fuel was old. But the response was intuitive and fast

OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger takes us back to the transformative moment he let his AI agent loose on the internet, igniting one of the world’s fastest-growing open-source projects. He makes a fascinating (and slightly unnerving) case that agents are a real shift, not just better versions of chatbots, and explores how they might reshape your ability to work, build and create. “The lobster is loose, and it’s not going back into the tank,” he says. (Followed by a brief Q&A with TED Chairman Chris Anderson) (Recorded at TED2026 on April 16, 2026)
