When companies think of diversity and inclusion, they too often focus on meeting metrics instead of building relationships with people of diverse backgrounds, says Starbucks COO Rosalind G. Brewer. In this personable and wide-ranging conversation with TED current affairs curator Whitney Pennington Rodgers, Brewer invites leaders to rethink what it takes to create a truly inclusive workplace — and lays out how to bring real, grassroots change to boardrooms and communities alike.

The TED Talks channel features the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world’s leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes (or less). The immensely profitable tech companies can afford to fall into this SJW trash from a business perspective. No doubt this reduces their competitiveness but being so profitable and in some instances basically acting as monopolies over their domain it really doesn’t matter to their bottom line if they embrace this stuff. Great business in terms of virtue signaling especially in their main hub of silicon valley (NorCal). Perfect example of the liberal elitists living in a fantasy world.

This is what you get when people pretend to be taking a stand against a brutal cast system that passed away a generation ago, so they can ignore the brutal cast system as it currently exists. This is the path of least resistance in reality.

Ted talk is usually a person talking and explaining. This technic of turning it into an interview is so that … the problem gets so mixed up, that you just YES to everything but you know … if it was real … she would’ve presented it like any other problem and then given us also a solution.
I’m black and I hear something like racial profiling that I can relate to but then I feel like she’s talking about other problems mixed with other problems that it’s very difficult to follow.

If it is “underdeveloped” that means there is NO TALENT out there, and if they don’t want to be included then they will not be include, if you want to play the game you have to play by the AMERICAN IDEALS! Yes but there “differences” cannot detract from the production of the work place!

If you want to SOLVE the ISSUES of “America” then VOTE OUT Republicans AND Democrats, and VOTE IN INDEPENDENTS! If you don’t then NOTHING is going to change, you guys will continue like a TWO HEADED CHIHUAHUA! You go ROUND and ROUND and NEVER do SPIT!

When you “change” the focus of making the company profitable to making employment profitable for the employee, the company is on the way to FAILURE!

The left loves diversity and inclusion as long as you get rid of white straight males. They are only accepting and tolerant if you agree with them via group-think. There is no diversity of thought allowed. How about we all just take each other as individuals and base people on the content of their character instead of the color of their skin, their gender, or who they sleep with? And, how about we evaluate someone for a job based on their skill-set, qualifications, and experience and not hire them because they fit into a category or “box” that needed to be checked off? MLK would be appalled if he were alive today to see the politically correct “woke” movement.

    December 27, 2020 at 5:46 pm

Artificial diversity creates societal weakness. Let the chips fall where they may … whoever winds up in a position … office … in charge etc. is who should be there. To imply minorities are not as successful as other segments of the population because they were held back or blocked somehow is simply not true. Less capable people don’t earn the same rewards or enjoy the same status as these who are more capable. Individuals don’t rise to positions of power or realize other forms of success because of the choices they make, and ultimately because they are less capable. Whoever wins, wins.

I feel so bad for this whole agenda, as making people feel part of a community is important, but this is clearly not making things better for people as a whole. Companies are starting to say no to this stuff as it gets in the way of the businesses being able to actually do business. I worry this is going to have blowback against the very people seeking to be included and that’s unfortunate as it will create the illusion that others (probably mostly white people) are hateful when it was the woke from the beginning forcing people who just wanted to be left alone to not object to something they felt was wrong or misguided. What do you do when you’re so tolerant that you become intolerant? Hiring people only because they are a certain color is the traditional definition of racism and that doesn’t make any sense given what these people profess to want to do. The whole thing seems engineered to be confusing. If you expect work to be like a daycare, then you should try to make a company and see if it succeeds, if it does, many will start replicating the daycare model. If not, then it won’t. I’m waiting to see when enough people feel oppressed by these people who claim to fight oppression and finally put their foot down or start using their own tactics against them. This seems to be replacing what looks curiously like religion, which again is ironic. Without religion, I thought every was going to get super rational. Seems to be going the wrong way. This is just unfortunate all around. (Looks around for large glass of wine)

In a part of the United States with more than 17,000 years of human history, cultural preservation advocate Tracie Revis is working to turn the Ocmulgee Mounds into Georgia’s first national park and preserve. This park would be co-managed by the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, bringing the tribal voice back to an area they were forcibly removed from 200 years ago. Revis explores the complex feelings of caring for this land and shows how it’s fostering healing in return.
