This came right at a time when we have to shift to remote work! Really digging the privacy features of the last two cameras

Was there any particular reason why this was videoed in a garage? Odd.

@Charli Funk Thanks for the prompt reply. I found it rather distracting as I was wondering why it was there. Will now take another look! May I ask another question? What is the rationale for switching from face on to three quarters?

‘How to buy’? That’s easy, ‘How to choose’ or ‘How to pick’ would be more useful. 🙂

Are there any webcam or settings that I can limited the view to just a rigid square? All the new ones seem to track where I move and I don’t want to unintentionally expose too much of my surrounding.

You’d think a professional would think of and notice that. I’ve learned that there are very few actually professionals out there in any job. Most people are just likable to some degree, and have some skill, and are controlled by an organization that just wants to make some money. A true professional does exactly what you would expect an experienced expert to do. It’s mostly a choice. I am not a professional, but I aim to be.

@NJA2k8 I did he said 4k to crop in and shift. Still don’t need 4k personally. All the services downgrade the image quality anyways. Thanks for the comment though

“How to buy a webcam to make you look the best” oh I don’t know, exchange currency for it?

  16. David Pierce

    February 14, 2022 at 3:31 pm

This guy is pretty likable, and a good narrator. However, I would expect much much better production than this video from CNET. It doesn’t feel like they respect my time or attention. If you’re gonna make videos professionally, have massive amounts of money and resources, you’d think someone would be tasked to make sure the shots are good, clean, double checked for mistakes. Like making us watch the output on the laptop screen, instead of inputting it directly, which would have eliminated the dirty screen issue. Seems like a small thing, but also seems like they don’t care and just want the ad revenue.

    • Min Chang

      February 14, 2022 at 8:15 pm

Agreed. Love Brian’s videos and reviews, but not showing the actual video output for a comparison was a huge oversight by the producer. I was hoping/expecting him to announce at some point that video we were watching was filmed with one of the cameras.

  17. NJA2k8

    February 14, 2022 at 3:33 pm

More important is the lighting for your face and the height of the webcam. All of this in the video is just extra.

    February 14, 2022 at 4:06 pm

osbot seems the most justified purpose buy for its mechanical tilt/pan auto-follow.
many devices already have a built-in web camera or many people already have a camera that plugs into a computer to serve also as a web camera, like a gopro. so having any of the other web cams is just for redundancy.
anyway, five years from now most (if not all) of these will be obsolete or irrelevant or at the very least, nothing special added.

  19. Yesn’t

    February 14, 2022 at 4:46 pm

You’re better off just using your old phone and connecting that vastly superior camera to your computer using a software like cam link or droidcam. Best part is that it’s free!

I got the brio from Office Depot 4 months ago on clearance for 50$. I love it can use on my Windows and Mac pcs but the software on Mac that work with it is small and troublesome vs windows. I recommend the brio for window users.

Been using the Brio which I purchased for $250AUD/$180USD pre pandemic in mid 2019. Still going strong and has good image quality. Inbuilt mic is terrible though so rely on bluetooth or usb mic for voice. It’s a shame Logitech hardly ever update the camera firmware and software though… I think it’s been updated once since it was released…

I don’t know how you make a VIDEO REVIEW of webcams… and NOT actually show the VIDEO FROM THE WEBCAMS. Instead doing a screen recording… CNET thought it was ok to use a camera -> to record a screen -> of other camera…. ????
