All I seen then ( and all I’ve ever seen) was fake CGI pictures from NASA , no real images. Come on people, they’re robbing tax payers money to produce fake Images and sell you a dream about ‘space’ and ‘aliens’ , meanwhile innocent people are dying of starvation and lack of clean water on earth, when the governments could fix that problem right away with the money they make from Space agency’s that have robbed the tax payers.
Im sorry to burst the bubble but people need to realise they’re being deceived about what they are living on, and I will preach this until the day I die.

That’s so cool, I imagine they could detect magnetic field auroras on Goldilocks Zone planets due to the light the aurora emits. That’d be a great sign of life being possible.

@lllOlOlOOl lOllOOOlll JWST can’t do that for 2 reasons:
1. JWST is an Infra-red detector (not a visible light scope). And IR wavelengths can be mostly absorbed by some atmospheric gasses (and so will look opague)
2. Insufficient optical resolution.
All optical systems have a limit as to the smallest object they can see. This limit is proportional to the size of the telescope. Seeing small details from that far is simply not possible.
As an example, take the Hubble telescope. It has an optical resolution of about 0.1 arc seconds. That means that if it were to look at the moon, it couldn’t see anything smaller than 200 meters across (a football field on the moon would only look like a single pixel to Hubble) .
And that is only 250,000 miles away. Planets are MUCH MUCH MUCH further away, so the minimum size of any object we can detect will be MUCH MUCH bigger.

Everytime I see wonderful talks like this from people who have dedicated their lives to science so that we can understand our world and universe it is thrilling. But it also saddens me because there is a large segment of our population who not only don’t believe him but think he is lying and instead rely upon a 2000 plus year old book authored by anonymous authors who believed the earth was flat… the center of the universe… and 6000 years old.

While certainly important, JWST (like all telescopes) only observe in a limited band of wavelengths. JWST is primarily an Infra-red detector… which is very useful, but leaves out a significant portion of the EM spectrum.
Hubble and James Web are two very different instruments, which are used for very different things. There are things that JWST can see that Hubble can’t. And there are things that Hubble can see that JWST can’t. In fact, Hubble remains the ONLY available instrument that can observe from near Infra-red, through visible light, into ultraviolet.
The next space telescope has been in development since 2016. The Nancy Grace Roman Telescope will launch in 2027. NGRST will be a widefield version of hubble and will see more sky in just a few months than hubble was able to in its entire 30 years of life.
And NGRST will have better spectrometers & coronagraphs than even JWST, by the way. And it will have extended near-IR capability, so it will be parked at L2 along with JWST.

Ok I have a question. Why are we assuming that life outside of earth requires liquid water, or a similar atmosphere as earth. I mean every living thing on earth is carbon based if i’m not mistaken, but why should the rules of life here on earth apply for all “life” across the universe? How could we exactly know what we’re looking for, the definition of life that we know of should only be confined for our planet…?

We’re not assuming that at all. There’s an entire field of science (exobiology) investigation other ways life could have formed, and what kind of signature that would leave. One of the things they found is that other chemistries (i.e. not using carbon and oxygen) have big chemical disadvantages (more energy needed, fewer combinations of elements possible) that mean they can’t compete with ‘our’ chemistry.

I was lucky enough to be able to work on this project for a few years and I will always be proud of the contribution I made to one of the most amazing science projects conducted by the human race, lol. I did most of the testing and quality control of the materials that were used to make the frame that supports the hexagon panels and the instrumentation. It is made from lightweight carbon fiber prepreg tape that was very tightly controlled during production and I made sure that everything was done at the highest level of quality for that specific prepreg material. I love being able to share this with my kids and show them how amazing our scientists are and how they can help us to understand the whole universe.

Not saying that JWST won’t be important (I think it will be). But I would argue that it will be more impactful for astrophysics than for astronomy.
I would argue that the Gaia Observatory has done more to revolutionize the field of astronomy, and may be the most important instrument for that (yes, even more important than Hubble or JWST).

The galaxies further away do have beings on them but our world our galaxy is quarantined because we were the only planet that fell into sin and disobedience. But there are innumerable planets with beings out there created by God. These unfallen beings are witnessing the chaos going on , on this blue planet for almost 6000 years already.
