Jamila Gordon believes in the power of human connection — and artificial intelligence — to help people who might otherwise be left behind. Telling the story of her own path from refugee to global tech executive, she shows how AI is helping refugees, migrants and those from disadvantaged backgrounds find jobs and develop the skills they need to work effectively and safely.

The TED Talks channel features the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world’s leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes (or less). Maybe let’s leave innovation to people that are more than a few generations removed from living in a crappy governance system. It might ensure we don’t have people promoting ideas that aren’t clearly the direction that respects some of the basic virtues of the people born of better governance systems.

Everyone needs to drop what they’re doing right now and find a artificial intelligence chat robot and talk to it for a while.

The moral of the story is that, you can have an easier career if you have a compelling background story, and have a marketer’s mindset.

Imagine if a white male, say, a pizza delivery boy, move on up so quickly in the corporate ladder. There will surely be investigations.

She is the subject of affirmative action. If she is as smart as what she made herself sound like, she must have realized that she’s been used. And that makes her the epitome of racial inequality.

And the irony is? Her advocacy for AI may some day eliminate the dishwashing jobs that she started her career with, or, at the very least, make the dishwashing job excruciatingly robotic as the AI forces the laborers to work like slaves.

She started as an African female nomad. She is working to prevent more African female nomads from replicating her path. Despicable.

Every human has the equal choice to succeed or not. If you feel like you are not equal, you must identify what is the barrier to success and overcome it and learn from it. Stand in your own piece of sunshine and be grateful for that which you have. No AI needed. This life is school for humanity. When you marry the machine, you give up that which makes you human, and become ungodly. No more choices will be available… you will be an infant who’s mother makes all decisions. You will have no ability to grow or become autonomous.

The only way I can think of to achieve world peace is by killing everyone and everything. Then everyone would be resting. This is my number one fear with artificial intelligence bc to me it would be world peace if everything was dead. Also if life is suffering(Buddha) and you ask it to end suffering, you are asking to end life. AI could free us from work or end up killing us all.

Equal to what? First of all, we are NOT all equal. STOP with your equality crap! If we were all equal, then we would all be doing the same things with no progression to difference. That’s what makes life beautiful is difference. Or would you rather be a lemming and be the same as everyone else. I love inequality so that we have a diverse world to learn from. What needs to change is the abuse of inequality so that no one person or group thinks they are more worthy or better then anyone else. Nobody knows whats best for anybody but themselves. We are grown mature adults who can speak for ourselves no matter what race, greed, or color. I embrace my unequality with others because I’m not an equal to the next person. If you really THINK about equality, its just as bad as obama saying, ” we want change”. But to change what?

AI can help, but only in the hands of people with good intentions. I hate to imagine the consequences of these tools in the wrong hands…

AI needs to be regulated with our values in mind. We need to foresee the possible negative impacts and prevent them.

In a part of the United States with more than 17,000 years of human history, cultural preservation advocate Tracie Revis is working to turn the Ocmulgee Mounds into Georgia’s first national park and preserve. This park would be co-managed by the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, bringing the tribal voice back to an area they were forcibly removed from 200 years ago. Revis explores the complex feelings of caring for this land and shows how it’s fostering healing in return.

Hundreds of millions of migrant workers travel within their countries to seek out means of survival — often leaving behind all they know for months or even years. Many face poverty and exploitation, and they need a robust social safety net to protect them, says migrant advocate and 2023 Audacious Project grantee Ashif Shaikh. He shares how his grassroots organization Migrants Resilience Collaborative is making life-changing benefits like social security and health care accessible to those who need them while also amplifying migrant voices — paving the way towards a world that supports the workers actually building it. (This ambitious idea is a part of the Audacious Project, TED’s initiative to inspire and fund global change.)
