Autopilot for idiots! I doubt anyone who can afford this beast will be dummies and it sounds like the fossil auto media wont be flaming rivian 24/7 like they do with tesla.

1:26 what a bad idea! What if you turned your head to look at a blind spot and you NEED to turn the car? It’s not going to let you? Horrible. How many autonomous miles has Rivian driven? Zero?

He talked about hands on the wheel. If you are doing a lane change with hands on the wheel it’ll disengage self driving. Plus self driving can’t overpower a human, so if you want to turn, it’ll turn.

Really sad that people are giving up their power and joy to drive to autonomous.

    • DaNihselAuto

      October 14, 2019 at 9:43 pm

@Justin McDavitt For me, I am more of a person that like the driving skill. Keep in mind though, who is creating the robot? Another human being who has the knowledge to create this. I honestly think people are just getting lazy about life all together. Plus its an insult to people who spent time at drivers school and goes through the process to get a license to later find out they don’t have to do the driving anymore.

    • Justin McDavitt

      October 14, 2019 at 9:51 pm

@DaNihselAuto I agree with you, I like driving, its just, the closer the cars get to driving themselves, the less idiots driving on the road

    • DaNihselAuto

      October 15, 2019 at 12:19 am

@Justin McDavitt Yeah that as well. Some people take the privilege for granted and making us drivers look bad. Especially those texters, drunk drivers, and those who sleep on the wheel. I am for any kind of transport for people who doesn’t like to drive or something that can reduce those risk factors. One thing I did notice was drivers were sleeping in their Tesla while self driving was on.

    • Justin McDavitt

      October 15, 2019 at 12:26 am

@DaNihselAuto Yeah, I wish people would stay pay attention as Tesla isn’t technically fully automated yet but they are making some good progress at least. Once the technology gets cheap enough and progresses enough, it will be safer for those who love to drive cars

    • Martin Kiel

      November 3, 2019 at 8:41 pm

@DaNihselAuto You can still drive the car, and when you don’t you won’t have to.. So it’s a win win.

Also, “who is creating the robot? Another human being” is an over simplification. Self driving is achieved by thousands of engineers working full time along with big data (immense data sets that keep growing) being compiled and processed by machine learning algorithms that learn from every single mistake without ever forgetting one, unlike humans..

Since self driving will inevitably be better at driving than humans in every possible scenario, every time.. what you should consider over driving pleasure are the 20-50 Million people every year who get injured and the 1.25 Million people that die where this technology would/will without a shadow of a doubt be able to prevent…

      Just food for thought

Rivian will die… they forget about Tesla.. and their soon to be released pickup.

Rivian does a lot of talking, yet they still don’t have any cars on the road…😏

Man, this interviewer was horrible. She looked dead inside. At least act like your interested in the product their producing. Zero enthusiasm and life in this video besides the guy, Oliver, who actually seemed to be really excited about what Rivian is working on. The other girl talking about burritos – like come on. Stop whistling my time with useless information.

Why are they putting such marketing effort in a Funky storage compartment for a Pick –up? Create enough room for Camper that fits into the back of a pick-up, create enough outlets to make that
happen off grid Plug and play event for outdoor enthusiasts. The Pulling capacity of Rivian Pick-up alone creates excitement. Anybody venturing off Highway in Mountain Passes climbing, skiing are full control people, they’ll let their kids send selfies in the back seat. Rivian might want to go beyond a Coffee shop in San Fran for focus group research.Great vehicle but you are underestimating your target audience as early adopters. Marketing 101.

Sounds like a awesome truck with its 120 KWH battery and range. But, nothing has been said about recharge percentage rates and times. There has also been no mentioned of Active Battery Maintenance System. The system that cools the battery while in use or when charging. Great if conditions were 100% and the driver could get 400 miles out of a charge. Again nothing is mentioned the decrease percentage of battery when running the air conditioner or the heater. Also no mention of warranty on the battery. It gives all the grits and glamour thing like self driving, lane assist. Will these be pricy add-ons like Chevy has done with its Bolt EV?

Lets understand that the interviewer really has no concept of the reasons that this is taking SO long to develop. It’s directly related to “BLAME.” If there is a mishap who the hell does the insurance companies blame? That is because North Americans are built on blamers.

    • Adumb Earthling

      October 26, 2019 at 5:02 am

Lol ok what country do insurance companies, car manufacturers or drivers willingly take responsibility for issues whatever they may be? And if “North Amarica” is built on “blamers”(its Canada’s fault eh)…. why did Tesla start its owe insurance company? 🤔
