I bought this because of its form factor. It may not be the most practical phone but it is a new fun modern take. I think it could possibly be more durable than other phones as it will be closed so often. Time will tell.

Battery is the only thing keeping me back on this one. I’m running the S20 right now and when it runs its course in a year or two, I think I’ll take a close look at the Z Flip 4 or 5.

Preordered two days ago. We will see, I had one of the very first Motorola flip phones (technically the mouthpiece just flipped) and I’ve been patiently waiting on this for far too long…. I would also bet the plastic screen has less light glare and ends of being far more robust than its glass counter part.

Iv been a fold owner since the first Samsung fold, and I love my z fold 2 the crease isn’t noticeable and you’re right on my iPhone x that ugly notch was there all the time. But the fold looking straight at it I don’t notice it the feel dosent bother me but what dosent have a crease when folded? Thats hard to do. Regardless Samsung has me sold again as I just pre-ordered this bad boy I bought two z flips and after trading in my note 10 plus I got $450 bucks off including 150 in credit for a free leather case a 35 dual watt charger and a Samsung tag. Apple would never! Brought my cost down to $550 with tax and my wife trading in her note 9 and is getting 350$ off! And free stuff as well 🙂

i have been holding onto my old phone features like the headphone jack, sd card expansion slot, all those kinda things that are being phased out, so i havent wanted to upgrade to anything newer than the s10+. but after i upgraded to the s10+ from my note 9 and the motherboard died after 2 months without warranty (i got it open box on ebay, and the warranty i got for it was a scam…), im starting to look at newer phones again. im planning on still fixing my s10+, but im trading my unfortunately broken note 9 in for a down payment on a galaxy z flip 3. i could have gone for an arguably *better* s21 or something. but for me, better is more features, and that s21 has LESS than my s10 had. the slightly better cameras dont phase me, its made out of plastic not glass, no headphone jack or micro sd card expansion, and it wont last as long on a charge because the refresh rate is much higher and the battery didnt get any bigger. the only think i would like about the new s21 over my s10 is the higher refresh rate (it looks really nice though), the charging is a little faster i think, 5g is nice to have for futureproofing, and its a bit faster with the new 888 chipset, and the bezels are slightly smaller with a smaller hole punch. but besides that, my old phone features way outweigh the wanting for those few little upgrades, and i would never have gone to the s21.
witht he flip 3, its something new. i still dont have the headphone jack or sd card expansion slot, but im still gonna be fixing my s10 for those things i would wanna keep. i still lose a camera compared to the 21, but i BARELY use the 2x zoom, and if i do, i can just zoom in normally. i really only care about the wide angle. i think it looks super cool in matte black, i LOVE the way it flips open, i love the small cover screen that you can actually adjust things on it without having to open it up. i can use it as its own tripod, among other things. i tried it out at the costco carrier booth, and its so FUN to use, i actually got excited for the first time in a while when looking for a new phone. ive been excited before, but with samsung removing legacy features, i got more annoyed than anything else. now, im acually excited again, even though it doesnt had any of those things back.
i decided “if im gonna be paying all this money for a new phone that has less spec features than my old s10, it had better do something that makes me love to use it, or do something to compensate for the lack of those features.” that is why as long as this experience is smooth, im going to be upgrading to folding and flipping phones from now on, and use my s10+ as a backup, second phone, or something like that. i loved my note 9, but it doesnt feel as fresh and modern as the s10, and it still has all those legacy features, just with the hole punch, and without the s pen.

Wish they would just make two separate screens that fit together at the center. I just keep seeing videos of the phone a year later with a massive crease not the little thing it starts with but like where the center isn’t even visible

Okay — with the special deal from Best Buy and my carrier I ordered this phone — after I said I wasn’t going to. Why I ordered it — compactness and screen protected while folded, the nostalgic feel, the “tripod” thing and the apparent fun vibe. I’m worried about the battery and finger print irritation. I keep my phones for a long time (now have a galaxy s7) and only upgrade when I’m having an issue so I hope this phone keeps me happy about 5 years. Thanks for the great review.

Got one preordered! Great review. I’m sick of how much bigger phones have gotten within the last decade and how they don’t easily fit in my back pocket anymore. Seen a couple comments saying it folding vertically is useless, it adds nothing unlike the Fold that turns into a tablet. But I’d argue that being more portable is the value added instead. To each their own. After skipping the original, I’m excited to give it a try!

Watching this review on my Samsung Galaxy M51 – battery lasts for one and a half day – at least. For a man who needs his phone for everything else as well as professional day to day use, big battery life is indispensable.

It looks really cool, but the small battery, notch, and no headphone jack on a $1000 phone is a tough sell. Think I’ll keep my $720 S9 for another year. This display res is lower on the zF3, but still has less SOT than my s9 😛
I want a flipphone again, but I want to wait for the real third generation tech.

Scratches at level 4 with deeper grooves at level fingernails (esp when gaming)…and rich in smudges of fingerprints which destroys the beauty of screen esp seeing rainbows in white texts and when viewing photos. Just get normal flagship smartphone whether Samsung, Apple, Google etc….durable, no fingerprint oils on display, better drop performance and apps.
Crease is not noticeable in not bright environments….once you use that in bright room like living rooms and offices and outside….the crease along with fingerpr8nt smudges will be so visible against what’s on the display. The reflection of light when flip phone is in right angle form is also distracting. I tried it in a store.
For people who likes new stuffs and flip phones…this is the best you can have though. Just know the cons and be more careful using it…you’ll be fine.

Definitely nervous for the following:
– Dust, lint or sand getting in the crack or hinge. I live by the water so there is always a possibility of some sand being on the ground. Definitely won’t risk taking it to the beach.
– I’m not that happy about the battery life on my S21. On average I get 18 hours, so I will have to get use to the 12 hour battery life.
– I’m going to miss my telephoto lens.
I figure if the benefit of having a folding phone doesn’t outweigh the drawbacks I mentioned above, I will look into trading this in next year when Samsung announces the S22 around the end of 1st quarter.

One of the tests for phones should be does it fit or will it fall out of my pocket as a female cursed to wear clothes with barely functional pockets. I’m tempted to get this phone because it folds in half which may help it stay in my pocket even if I bend or sit – when other phones will just fall right out.

Stop wasting your money on Samsung and other Android bases smart phones. Just buy your apple phone for next purchase if you do need a phone. You save your money for all these upgrades over times. People don’t need to buy or change their phone every three years!

This is the perfect replacement for my Wife’s iPhone 8 all of the perceived shortcomings are upgrades relative to what she is using. Far better cameras, far better processor, far better screen, 2x battery capacity and the cool factor goes without saying. Samsung has indeed made a folding device for the mainstream I have this on preorder along with a Galaxy watch 4 for her, it’s Christmas in August.
