The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra was a great phone launched at the wrong time. But a year later, with Samsung confirming there won’t be a new Note in 2021, this phone has a lot more going for it. Not only is it significantly more affordable than before, but it still offers strong performance, great cameras and, of course, a built-in home for the S Pen.

Thanks for watching! Let me know if you have any other tips and tricks to get the most out of the Note 📱

    • Click Savant

      August 29, 2021 at 10:12 pm

Lexy, I fixed the problem with the fingerprint scanner on my Note. I was frustrated with it for weeks with the same problem you had. Then by deleting my fingerprints and adding them again, it now works like it should. (Might have to do it more than once to get it right.)

    • Brendon B

      August 29, 2021 at 10:32 pm

@Click Savant you can also try adding your fingerprint more than once. I have both thumbs and index fingers in there.

    • Lexy Savvides

      August 29, 2021 at 11:19 pm

@Click Savant thanks! I’ll definitely try that. Others have suggested registering fingerprints twice which is a great idea too!

    • Click Savant

      August 30, 2021 at 12:05 am

@Brendon B Great idea. It’s working fine now with just the one set but I’ll give it a try if it ever comes up again.

It still looks like a unreleased phone or a leak from 2022, the crazy ×10 hybrid zoom definately made for drama shots

Exynos user (UK) and happy with my Note 20 Ultra, though battery life has really diminished. Maybe that’s not been as much of an issue for me over the last year as it might otherwise have been during ‘normal’ times had I commuted everyday to my office and not been able to charge back up regularly.
Let’s hope it’s not the last Note. I’ve loved this series (I’ve absolutely zero interest in folding phones) and I hope the Note series continues.

I just bought (and returned) the new Galaxy Fold Z3 and ordered the Galaxy Note 20 ultra. The Fold Z3 is too narrow in the front screen that I felt really uncomfortable using the keyboard. I’ve been using the Note series since the Note 4 and I hope that the Note 20 ultra experience will be pleasant. Thank you for your video.

It’s a shame Note’s have tanked every year since the twice recalled Note 7. Which explains why Samsung’s finally ditched it. 😁

I literally just traded in my note 8 phone for this! A bit nervous since I love my note 8. It’s on back order and no bronze available so a bit bummed on that so settled for the black version. But very excited to get my hands on it! Thanks for your review! Made me feel more confident on my upgrade!

i have the exynos one.. but buying the fold 3 now. Normaly i would not buy a phone that didnt have better cameras and bigger battery, but i hope that the fold 3 that have the 888 is gonna peform even better on the cameras. for i must say, the biggest disepointment for me when i bought the note 20 ultra was the cameras..

5-6 hour battery life? Bruh. I keep mine on power saver all day and my battery lasts me the whole day. We all have different needs but I can live without 120 hz on my phone. I’d rather have a phone that lasts all day (I need it at work).

Note 20 ultra 5g is a beast. Ive got the exynos 990 version UK.
I wouldnt have my Samsung any other way, the only way i will give up my note 20 ultra 5g is when Samsung gives us the next note.
I love my note. I shoot at all zoom lengths and love it.
    Great phone all the way.
All other phones are taking parts of this note 20 ultra and working from there so why would i switch.
I caviat is that Samsung should not loose the sd card which they might.

Agree the fingerprint sensor still isn’t great, even compared to those I used years ago.

I’ve also been having some touchscreen issues, where swipes are recognized as taps.

Wi-Fi performance has also been hit or miss over the year. At the moment the device seems to be using mobile data even though I’m on a strong Wi-Fi connection at home.

I am really liking the camera. Just got back from a vacation where I didn’t have to go for my Sony camera at all. Nice having a true flagship camera after years of using mid-rangers!

I been a fan of note series since about the 2. I’m not sure what’s up with this camera though. It’s the worse I ever had. The focus on it, is basically non existant. Under perfect conditions, it has amazing pictures. I love it otherwise. I’ll be moving on from this phone sadly.

I’m still holding on desperately to my Note 8 despite a few cracks. The lack of a camera bump and the headphone jack make it feel like the end of an era but it still holds up. So with the news of no Note this year and maybe none next year either, I’m giving the Note 20 a look. What I really wish is that I could just get the Note 8 again with modern durability, speed and OS improvements.

I went back and forth about upgrading from my Note 20 Ultra to the Fold 3, but I decided to keep my Note for quite a few reasons. Sd card slot, Samsung Pay, and the S pen functionality. Sure all the phones this have S pen support but it’s just different with the Note in my opinion. I’m going to hold onto the Note 20 Ultra for awhile

Register your fingerprint twice for the same finger to improve the accuracy. It is way faster and more accurate than just having it registered once.

I have both the Note10+ and the Z Fold 2. Although the Z Fold is my main phone and it’s the only one that I have serviced, I will take the Note10+ any day over the Z. The Note series is my favorite phone series. I’ve owned the Note 2, Note 3, Note 5, Note 8 and now the Note10+ and I will be devastated if the Note series is discontinued.

Great review, thanks! Tho I would question 1.5 days battery life. I know at least 5 people who even on battery-saving mode must charge it at the end of the day. Note series is known for productivity, so it would be amazing to get a work/productivity review. For example using Note20 Ultra as a laptop replacement, Dex, coding, video editing, using enterprise PaaS/SaaS.

Being a note 20 ultra user I love being able to pay with my phone. I don’t know why samsung puts features on the note series and then does away with them. I still miss my IR blaster. Great review.

If the note series is discontinued… it will be disappointing… there is nothing like it .. having the stylus integrated in the phone…the thought of carrying the s pen all the time is just plain stupid….Will definitely ditch samsung ( coming from a long time note user) .. can’t wait for pixel 6

    August 31, 2021 at 12:28 pm

I really agree with pretty much everything said in this video. I have owned Note phone since the Note 2. And now idk what to move on to if there’s no Note 21 next year. It may even be to Apple but I have so many Samsung products. Ear Buds & Watches. Smh. Even the latest Watch 4. But it’s definitely sad that they are killing off great features such as micro SD & MST. And now of I upgrade I have to have a case for spen storage. I switch cases about twice a week and sometimes I rock with my phone with only a bumper or bare. That’s why I love in house spen storage. Come on Samsung. Continue to be different and push the edge as well.

    FINGERPRINT TRICK.
This is a Samsung S5 trick.
You enroll your thumb or index finger twice.
You have to be careful and do for example the tip of the thumb and you go to the center and it will say, 100% but in the second finger, keep where you left on your thumb all the way down.
In this way, you mapped a larger surface and you will avoid mis readings.

I’m curious, I have the Note 10 +, since day one when it came out. And within the first year, after 6 months, I think, the phone would give me a notification that the s pen wasn’t connected even though the s pen was in the phone. And after that, the s pen stopped working on the gestures for taking pictures and changing the camera modes. It’s most likely the s pen that’s failing me but, I barely use the s pen, so, i don’t know why it didn’t last me that long. And I refuse to buy another s pen. Did you have a similar problem? Or did it not happen at all within that first year? Thank you.

I’m still on the Note 9,
But I know the 20 ultra is a Beast, would love to own one one day. It’s my dream.

I have had the note 20 Ultra day one last year. I really do not like the camera. It is so grainy and over-processed. How do you get around this? My Note 8 took much better pictures IMHO.

I’m a Note fan because of its productivity features. I still hold on and use my Note5 at home despite having the Note20 ultra. Honestly, despite being outdated, my Note5 still got decent features and good media quality up to this date.

I’m on the Exynos Samsung Note 10 plus. Still love it although inferior to the Snapdragon ones. Wanted to upgrade this year but no Note this year.

Everything works like day one after two years except the battery performance which is not that bad at FHD+ 40% brightness. About 5 hours on Youtube or gaming maybe?

Let’s see if there be a Note next year. If not, I might upgrade to Note 20 Ultra and keep it for 3 years at least.

I’ve had the same experience with the Note 20 Ultra, which is why I traded in my Note 8 for the Fold Z3 and kept my N20U. Contrary to Samsung’s declarations the most POS systems have been upgraded to NFC, I use the MST feature several times every week…

I love my Note 20 Ultra i have it since it released. It got me pumped to see what Samsung was goin to do next but since Samsung it’s just removing features it got me looking more and more in other directions so I’m holding on to this one for as long as I can but my next phone might not be a Samsung.

I have the Samsung Galaxy Note 21 Ultra 5G and i have the Exynos version since i live in the UK but i have to say it does hold its own and still it’s better then the fold 3 and the flip spec by spec except that the fold has a faster chip but seriously how fast can it really be you can hardly tell these day’s I’ll be sticking to my Note 20 Ultra 5G for a long long time unless they bring back the Note series

SD card support is a REALLY big bummer. I hope Samsung reconsiders this when they launch their new flagships next year.

Hi Lexy, thank you for the note 20 ultra run down
I love mine too! Is there an easy way to tell if you have exynos or Qualcomm cpu?

If the snapdragon 5G version would be available in my region, I would have purchased it. We have a boring Exynos 4G version only.

And here I thought a good marketing advantage for Samsung would be to kill the S line & keep the note and fold line. Since a fold is an S you can expand.

Thanks for this video. I LOVE my note 20 Ultra, one of the best Note phones, or phones in general, I have every had. I really hope Samsung brings back the Note line as the others just don’t seem to have the same appeal or specs. I wish they would bring back some of the old features, I remember my Note 3 had touchless gestures, those were awesome, not sure why they stopped having those, but they should bring them back. I also got my wife and my daughter to get the Note 20 Ultra, so there are three Note 20 Ultra’s in my household and we will keep them for as long as we can. Best phone on the market right now IMO.

Im using note 9 after sending my note 20 ultra to insurance after smashing it and I can say that the note 9 still holds up well today. Still fast as the day I got it. I only miss the upgraded features such as 120 hz, the zoom on camera, battery etc

Longtime note user here. I picked up the fold because of its now included Spen support and now that I’m relatively sure that Samsung is getting ready to either rebrand or axe the note line of phones.
To say I’m disappointed with the direction Samsung seems to be going with their phone lines would be disingenuous.
Both the Note and the Fold are targeting the sameish demographic (business professionals and smartphone enthusiasts) I mainly just wish they put a little more thought into the case and spen situation (the way the case works currently is less than satisfactory even for a avid flip case fan like I am) and the Spen going back to essentially what we had in the Note 5 ish days in terms of functionality is very disappointing (though admittedly I never used most the wireless features besides very occasional shutter button) I am aware the Spen pro is going to release separately soonish but that’s then another accessory I have to carry separately compared to something that came all in one on the Note.

Curved display with 6.9″ size looks better than only 6.8″ S21U. I wish Samsung could make new S22 Ultra and release it with 6.9″ display size and 1TB MicroSD card slot.

Thank you for the review. Like you I’m a huge note fan. My fave is the note 10 plus and I hate that killing the note is in consideration. After your review I’m now going to look into the 21 ultra. I just hope that another one is in the works because I’m spoiled and don’t want to switch. Thanks again.
