I am thankful that there are engineers tackling these complex problems. There are still many problems to overcome but just over 100 years ago people thought it was crazy to dream of flying at all. 3 cheers for the inventors and the innovators!

New York has strict rules for helicopters as a example. They will last until the first one thunders into the side of a skyscraper. No fuel but I am sure a few will have their batteries blow in those accidents. Ever seen a Tesla catch on fire?

They need a monitor and manual mode for those air taxi. Having a monitor outside of those taxis is very dangerous.

I can’t see this being a commercially viable solution, for the first decade or so of this technology it will still be cheaper to just charter a piloted helicopter. It’s cool but I just don’t see this as an option for regular people and it will be tough to get FAA approval in many cities

I refuse this. We all deserve better than this. Stop cramming us on these tiny space with no leg room or comfort. I refuse this future or any where everyone is not provided the same luxury foroney paid. We are still yelling one another you don’t deserve unless you pay more. It’s so stupid legroom and comfort are paywalled in transportation. Have and have not future needs to go.

Noise pollution is a real concern with low flying vehicles, also in cities this would be a nightmare for the AI to avoid buildings and other unexpected tall structures, would only be a matter of time before a major incident. Nobody would or should trust these things until they’re widely tested and rolled out incrementally

I’ve worked with some former military pilots. In cities, especially developing cities, a major hazard that is difficult to detect even for an experienced human pilot is undocumented wires between buildings.

This will take the congestion from the road to the sky.
You talk about crowded major cities, Take off and Landing takes time. Landing zones are scarce.
There is no way this type of transportation will be enough solve traffic. only for the rich.

Also, will autonomous craft even be allowed to fly by the FAA or other worldwide agencies? Certainly not in regulated regions of EU, or US.

There already exists a VTOL aircraft. It is called a HELICOPTER.
The problem is not many of us can buy Helicopters like cars, because it is Expensive.
If you can make a Helicopter Silent in a price range everyone can afford, say $20,000, we will see the concept of FLYING CARS become a reality.
Until then, it’s a work in progress.

Pointless idea……..they have been pushing this idea since the 1950s.Its not going to happen as investers have found out..
There is NO LOWER AIRSPACE IN OR OUT OF CENTERS PEOPLE WANT TO BE its all used up. So where is this magic extra airspace comming from ? There s no idea where its comming from in government.
Most of these early investors have twigged early on and are turning their designs to miltary use, emergency use or sold as light aircraft. All of which will require regulation,skilled trained pilots and restrictions in allocated airspace.
So why not use an airline seat its a lot safer…..
