You know a movie was made by a white guy if the big horrible reveal for your protagonist is, that they’ve been eating bugs all along.

I lived in arizona for a bit and it’s pretty rife with cockroaches no matter how nice or clean of a place you live in. I stayed for a few days in a really nice house in a gated community that was empty for half of the year, and I still had a cockroach or two in there. Part of the reason I moved back to the midwest lol

Wow! He must be really good . With the validation of BITCOIN in El Salvador as a legal tender and also recognition by the Australian Taxation office as an asset for capital gain tax, some other countries may adopt similar usage . Investing is a necessity for me .

I like to think that the word “bug” isn’t exclusive to just insects, but instead applies to any creature that’s creepy crawly. So I consider spiders, scorpions, centipedes, millipedes, worms, etc. as bugs. At least that’s what I mean and think of when I use the word. If it’s small, crunchy, spazzy, and/or can bug you, it’s a bug to me.

About the brain sucker alien, it did remind me of the giant water bugs, that stab their prey with a dagger like proboscis (mouth parts), inject them with a digestive enzyme, then suck out their insides like drinking through a straw… The really freaky part though is the bugs are big enough to eat fish, small turtles, frogs, and so on. Not many insects and so on freak me out, but they kinda do. 0.0

Eating insects as a viable, sustainable food source is going to be a hard sell for nearly all Americans. It is just not embraced in the culture like it is in other cultures around the world. Personally as much as I like Wall-E and Joe’s Apartment (my gf and I regularly sing “Funky Towel”) just the thought of having one near me, dead or alive , makes me sick to my stomach.

I was actually wondering specifically how much overlap there was between seafood allergies and insect allergies, because a lot of seafood really seem like aquatic ‘bugs’ and I thought they must have various proteins and other compounds in common, so thank you <3

Would you want to weigh in on just how much distinction there even actually is between shrimp, lobster, crabs etc... And land dwelling arachnids and insects and so forth? I never thought there was much distinction except where they lived and people's perceptions of them.

Honeybees are no longer in the detriment. It’s the pollinator bees that are all dying. So sadly the more important bees are going extinct as we are busting our butts to save a species that’s actually doing pretty well. In fact the honey bee farming is harming the other bee populations. Soooo .. we need to re-sort our priorities.

That spongebob scene caused issues. My teen cant stand butterflies now. I was driving in the carpool lane and she was in the backseat at, oh, 2 or 3 years old while she watched spongebob. I had no idea what was going on when she FREAKED, got put of her carseat (at 80 mph) and comes crawling to the front seat screaming. Her heart was racing so fast. Got off the freeway to calm her down and figure out what happened. I THOUGHT she was saying “butterfly” but surely a butterfly couldnt cause that terror. Months later she was able to show me the episode. Oooh! Thats not a buttetfly!

    HOLD IT!

But how do ant colonies spread themselves in the wild? Shouldn’t they prepare young queens to the mating flight in order to build a new colony?

So, it isn’t actually precise to say no other queens were being “trained” or actually grown.

More over, what the colony does if (as in the scene) the queen is growing old and is almost out of eggs? Should the colony perish or provide a successor?

I recently read that the whole “meat is not efficient” argument was already debunked. A lot of the commotion about it was ramped up by futurists and venture capitalists that wanted to create a market for insects as food. In reality most free range meat production is nearly a zero emission industry, and it’s role in global warming is severely overblown. While cows produce methane, it’s methane that would’ve been released when the produce they’re eating rotted away anyways, and the methane itself is deposited by rainwater into the ground anyways.

Man I’ve been getting house centipedes in my place the past 2 years and have zero idea why, or what changed, but they absolutely gross me tf out. I have zero problems if I see a spider, if I see a daddy long leg I just leave it alone and if it’s a bigger spider ill catch it and let it outside but when it comes to house centipedes I freak tf out everything about them makes me squirm and I’ve been living in my apartment for 6 years and only the last 2-3 have they been seen, I live in an upstairs apartment as well and for context I live in Buffalo NY. I would love any suggestions on how to minimize their presence pretty please. 🙂

So, legitimate question, the European Honey Bee is an invasive species technically, right? So wouldn’t the natural pollinators be able to do the job? Or do the bees give pollination a substantial boost that their decline IS a huge issue?
