Echo Show 10 review: Smart displays are on the move

Amazon’s latest smart display gets a camera upgrade, big sound and the ability to spin 360 degrees to keep you in its eyeline. The $250 Echo Show 10 is the most capable smart display yet, but is it also the creepiest? You can buy Echo Show 10 here: *CNET may get a commission from this…

Its funny how most of the negative commenters either dont have any smart devices, or have never tried them. Why are you watching this? Just to complain? Stay in your flower wallpapered cave, and watch your tube tv.

It’s not the device that gives me the creeps, it’s that Amazon makes it. If it were Apple, I’d be okay with it.

You need to include an Amazon affiliate code with that comment.

The product itself is just a slight improvement, if Amazon was smart enough it would have put wifi router inside the Echo Show, probably that could be their next product, Alexa enabled Wifi Router, – Echo Wifi. Alexa can tell you the current speed of the router and diagnose / troubleshoot any problem it has via the screen.
the camera can be disabled here and there to stop following you, this is widely needed.

In less than five years we can purchase an echo show that will follow us around the house.

They should just release the rotating base with its sound system and make it a dock for the Fire HD10. Snap it on and it becomes an Echo Show. Take it off and it’s a tablet again.

So who asked for a Echo Show that tracks you as you move around on a video call ….. not me ! , id rather they invest in features more people would use.

This version kinda reminds me of ‘Jibo’, except, ya know… the Echo actually works and does stuff.

This will only be cool if it’s 100% encrypted and secure. I don’t want Amazon or anyone else spying on me in my home.

Did you do an actual test of the device with a family call? or was it just speculation? It was not clear.

People who are freaked out that the camera could rotate and look where they don’t want it too must have never seen the Amazon drone security camera (I’m drawing a blank to the name, but it is a real announced product)
