Hi Anne! Is CV-19 more dangerous than cancer? It seems like it… Is it more deadly than driving, flying, and or living in poverty? I like that you said we all gonna get it. About time someone spoke truth.

I love that a trauma surgeon that spent years to obtain the skills needed to do her job, state that she wants to go help expecting that she will mop floors….

I have struggled for many years with medical professionals that have lost touch with the other side. Drs that I know wouldnt think thier first way of helping would be mopping floors.

thank you. thank you for your service, thank you for risking your safety every day to make sure most of us survive this pandemic, and thank you for your first thought of mopping floors . your story was intresting because it gave me an inside view. seeing your humble nature was an uplifting and encouraging thing bringing me faith that maybe the core attitude of the younger medical professions is shifting.

I volunteered during the peak of the epidemic as a nurse aid (I’m a med student) at a Covid-19 ICU, and subsequently at the ER.
During those first 4 weeks at the newly formed ICU for Covid-19+ adults in a pediatric hospital, I remember feeling all those thoughts and emotions : worries about PPE, feeling like you can’t do anything do anything but offer supportive and experimental treatments to your patients, losing some people, seeing other’s get out, learning more about the disease day to day and somehow being even more confused about treatment protocols, talking to families (there were two patients whose infidelities had emerged, one whose brother had died and the family refused to tell him…).
The ER, after a month of social distancing, was somehow relaxing compared to that.

Thank you Annie for documenting, it is a brave thing to open yourself up this way. I am a sonographer and I have been working through COVID although not in the capacity that the ICU, telemetry, and emergency units have. I have not personally seen death but I have shown up to a patient’s room moments after they’ve died and I see everyone’s face in the unit, and I’ve spent 40 minutes carefully scanning patients to aid in their treatment only to have them die hours later. People who are responsible for the relaxing regulations have not seen the things that are happening in hospitals across the world. People who are going outside without masks have not faced this virus in the way these healthcare workers have. It’s getting better but it’s still extremely serious.

So this is a propaganda series to promote the fear and endorse Fauci? Wow! Are doctors there following the covid-19 treatment protocol of intubating patients and immediately ventilating them like in New York? And having patients sign their rights away to the hospital as they’re not even allowed to have family their to advocate for their health care and them? A series not showing any people in the hospital at all. Strange.

My daughter is working at Yale Hospital in CT doing nothing but Covid patients. She has a doctorate in nurse anesthesia, therefore she’s the one placing patients on vents, and regular AA’s are reserved for emergency surgeries. She’s exhausted. She was working at Harborview in Seattle, WA and moved jsut before the pandemic happened and arrived in CT with it was slammed. I live in a county in N. (I imagine you probably keep testing until you get a positive result because there is so much money involved) Tell us truthfully how accurate these tests are and why they are labeled “not to be used to diagnose”.

The greedy billionaires controlling the USA medical system and bribing politicians caused this to be such a bad problem with a system that was not prepared for this. There is no rush to get resources for the poor people where and when it is needed because the rich gotta make sure they are taken care of first, gotta make sure them bank account numbers get pumped up lmao….

We have medical professionals fighting against a new crippling pandemic… And meanwhile some of our citizens can’t put aside their extremely immature and entitled feelings to wear a mask to protect themselves and others… This surgeon is a very wonderful human. go make some tik tok dancing videos or go outside and take a knee for social justice or something. empty hospitals and lazy nurses and doctors have disappointed me. I used to admire nurses/doctors etc…not any longer. yes I am aware most staff did not do weird video’s and protesting like clowns outside for SJW, but it seems like way to many acted a fool. and the pseudo hero complex is also tiring.

There’s no way we know how many people died of Covid, because a lot of the deaths have been based on assumptions. Not only that, the PCR test is wrong 40 percentage of the time. The overall death rate in the US is pretty much the same as previous years.

Half a world away, in a country that is doing considerably better than the United States right now, I still feel guilt when I here that we are opening up without having the necessary testing and contract tracing in place, and we’ll just end up reaching the point where the hospitals can’t handle the sheer number of cases, slowly killing the nurses and doctors in the process.

I live in Texas (where the outbreak is currently located) and it’s ABSOLUTELY ASTONISHING how stupid certain people in the countryside are. When I went to Walmart, about 70% of people didn’t have masks (after the mask requirement by our governor) and some family, who were not wearing masks, let their daughter sneeze on me, which is fine since I sanitized myself and the cases in that area were low but that was absurd since their daughter looked sick and was coughing and sneezing everywhere and the family couldn’t give a darn. It’s surreal how stupid some people can be. I think we’ll (in Texas) deal with this outbreak for a while since people, mostly in the countryside fortunately, are honestly stupid…

Does anyone else have any stories?

Oh wow. Just saw one of the old break down videos in Recommended and thought it’d be nice to see another Annie Onishi video. Serendipitous. Just wish it were in better circumstances.

I’ve always assumed surgeons are super smart but listening to her eloquently recount such horrible circumstances really exemplifies how brilliant (and brave) health care workers are. Truly inspirational, thank you for sharing your story! Ps. I hope Tony is doing well 🤙🏼

and people will still have the audacity to say “it is my right to not put on a mask, plus they do not help prevent anything”. it’s truly infuriating. it is your right to, i don’t know, wear a horrendous outfit on the street and do headstands on the sidewalk and sing to yourself, because youre most probably not causing harm to anyone. You can NOT however justify not wearing a mask in public because you can chose what to wear. No, you are possibly harming others by spreading and carrying the disease, you’re possibly putting pressure on the already struggling healthcare system of your country, you’re putting old people, kids and people with bad immune systems in danger. If you want to catch the virus, go at it. You cannot endanger others for your bigotry though. You are responsible for what you introduce to the society you live in.
