Nine of the models they released so far has got my interest. I doubt if they will bring any of these concepts to life and even if they do , i don’t think it will look like the concepts. These designs don’t seem to comply with road safety. Hyundai is doing better job with their concepts. I wish delorean made an ev version of the same car that made them famous, in pretty sure the original delorean will bring more customers than these concepts.

More than half of these concepts aren’t gonna make it to mass production. Waste of time. Cnet gets paid to do the reviews.

the lack of side windows will be a huge mistake. The car would feel claustrophobic. It doesn’t matter if it can drive itself or not, people like looking outside.

You can’t do a concept car with no windows throughout history all of our transportation vehicles have Windows it’s not going to be a seller I’m sorry people enjoy looking out windows especially people in the backseat what else is there to do when you’re in a back of a vehicle

What’s the point of making a concept that is completely unrealistic?
I get that are concepts that need to be changed to go into production but this is just sci-fi wishful thinking.

    • Navid Zohoury

      September 5, 2022 at 3:56 am

I think there is definitely some utility in discussing how we’d like our “cars” (our mobility procucts) to look in ~15-20 years. With the average car lasting 15ish years anyway, having a turnover to the road vehicles takes 15-25 years.
In this case I think it also provides some design philosophy guidelines (however unique) for this nascent brand.
So I do think there is brand utility and internal culture / general design principle utility.
      Just some thoughts.

      September 5, 2022 at 4:22 am

@Navid Zohoury The thing is: this isn’t a concept, it is a prop. The tires fused together with the wheels aren’t an idea for 15-25 years, they are pure sci-fi. Same with a car without windows. You simply can’t do that cause of crash regulations.

As for serving as a “guiding principle”: not when it is so unrealistic. Even from a pure design standpoint.

If you have no side windows, then I would assume “seeing” outside would be done through video screens. I don’t think I would like my real world translated into video screens. Sometimes driving is the only time we are not looking directly at video screens. Of course, I am looking at a screen as I write this, so you get my point.

Google I/O made it official: AI-generated answers are now front and center in search, and most brands have almost no visibility into how AI is describing them to their customers. On this episode of TechCrunch’s Equity podcast, Rebecca Bellan caught up with Matt Thompson, VP of partnerships at Scrunch, a startup positioning itself at the center of the AI search shift, to talk about what Google’s changes mean and marketers and founders should actually do about it.
