YouTube Originals presents the TED Countdown Global Livestream, an empowering event laying out a credible and realistic pathway to a net-zero future. Watch now and take action on climate change.

Hosted by Latif Nasser, with appearances by AsapSCIENCE (@asapscience), Don Cheadle, TED science curator David Biello, Christiana Figueres, Al Gore, Joe Hanson (@itsoktobesmart), Valerie June, Regina Hall, Prajakta Koli (@mostlysane), Rooney Mara, Dave Matthews, Amina Mohammed, Joaquin Phoenix, Charlie Puth, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Mark Ruffalo, Mark Vins (@bravewilderness), Forest Whitaker, Rainn Wilson and more, along with scientists, activists, artists and leaders from business and government.

Combining new TED Talks with live performances, short films, expert conversations and more, this event is intended to vividly explain the climate crisis, focusing on solutions and calling for leaders and citizens everywhere to step up.

Countdown is a global initiative to champion and accelerate solutions to the climate crisis. The goal is to build a better future by cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 in the race to a zero-carbon world — a world that is safer, cleaner and fairer for everyone. Every person, organization, company, city and nation is invited to collaborate with Countdown and take action on climate. It is a movement open to everyone — and everyone has a vital role to play.

Countdown is one part of a broader series of actions and events this fall, all with the collective objective of informing and activating millions in the lead-up to a successful UN Climate Change Conference in November 2021.

It isn’t about any actual science, if it was, they ‘d fund the Sebatier Reaction. What this is, is nothing more than giving a few elite politicians and the central banksters the ability to control ALL of the worlds resources. Can you please fucking stop electing them into office? THANKS!

    • InMaTeofDeath

      October 31, 2021 at 7:12 am

@Δ.Μ One person can only do so much and they did say choose after all. If we wanted both I’d suggest telling them that since they have the platform to spread the word that they’re both equally important.

    • Georg Plaz

      November 1, 2021 at 2:38 am

@InMaTeofDeath they are *not* equally important. if we don’t safe the climate, there won’t be any resources to continue building rockets

(and thats coming from someone working in the space industry)

    • InMaTeofDeath

      November 1, 2021 at 4:57 am

@Georg Plaz I disagree, humans could get easily killed off regardless of which they focus on. The best way to stay alive is to do both. Also we’re already pretty close to grabbing resources from our solar system, it won’t be long till that industry blows up and the Earth is no where near getting bad enough to stop us from doing that.

I doubt we could change it on time because I think it’s a little too late sure you might clean up a little bit and feel good but it’s not enough you can run the math and whatever it’s still not going to be enough besides will be dead before the Earth truly becomes clean but don’t worry Earth will still live on because we’ll kill each other that’s why we still build bombs and things like that and not solutions to the problems that we have

Ultimately, the Sun controls our climate.. we must def stop polluting it tho.. Still, you ain’t gonna “control” the climate like they keep saying — that’s so stupid to even try … when you look at core samples,, CO2 vs temp data is very revealing.. esp at the periodic pole reversals.. that information is far more alarming to me…

China has trucks that produce 200 times emissions of trucks in the u.s.a.( watch under the dome documentary) so we need to remove 200 trucks for 1 of theirs…a climate debate is useless without them.

Fusion energy has been “20 years away” for decades, but has the science finally caught up? Private investment in fusion companies surged from $10 billion to $15 billion in just months, and the money is coming from places you wouldn’t expect.

On this episode of TechCrunch’s Equity podcast, Rebecca Bellan and guest host Tim De Chant sit down with Rachel Slaybaugh, general partner at DCVC, to break down why serious investors are finally treating fusion as a real asset class, and what the return thesis actually looks like when no one expects a power plant in their fund lifetime.
