Extending the life of our gadgets? Tell that to apple and their invasive updates that will systematically kill the device.

That’s a lot of work, when we could just avoid having tariffs. Why should we be punish for the government decision.

As a former iPhone user and proud owner of the new S25 Ultra, I feel bad for you — that you, or even a 14 Pro Max owner, can’t even use or feel the AI of a hoax Apple. Sorry for your loss of money.

Buy from manufacturers that give software updates for a long period of time. That’s why I switched to a Pixel. Other brands were cheaper, but you’d be lucky if you got more than one major update.

      Very true…

Apple has been good this for a while .

Samsung has improved a lot in this area.

I wouldn’t buy anything else until other companies catch up.

      April 12, 2025 at 7:25 am

@rws91942  I agree. I put my parents on Apple Products because as a commercial product, they are better in every way. I left myself on Android because I’m cheap

Apple already inflates its pricing, so why not absorb the tariffs instead of passing the cost onto consumers? Especially when the majority of their revenue now comes from services, not hardware. On top of that, Apple spends more on marketing than on R&D—surely, they could cut back on marketing expenses to offset the tariffs.

    • @Actualvomit

      April 12, 2025 at 6:45 am

Ahhh. No. Your government doesn’t seem to prioritize its allies. Imposing a 10% tariff on Australian imports, despite our existing Free Trade Agreement and the fact that the U.S. has a trade surplus with us, is perplexing. It makes little sense to penalize a partner when you’re already benefiting more from the trade relationship . 🤷‍♂️

America accounts for only about 5% of our export market, so while the tariff is more of an annoyance than a catastrophe for us, it’s disheartening to see a friend turn adversarial without clear justification.

China’s just reacting, here because they’re being grabbed by the collar suddenly. No leader wants to look weak and this came out of nowhere with no negotiations beforehand. Look at where the profits lie. All of the billionaires who bought during the dip and are now so much richer, while the average American faces layoffs. People’s livelihoods are crumbling. Apple isn’t your friend and your government doesn’t care if you go homeless.

      The 🍊 one must go.

This situation is quite dystopian. What on earth is happening over there? It’s like a frog in a hotpot situation, where you can’t even buy a phone anymore because of the rump. Please continue to fight for the rights of minorities. Once the weakest become targets, things change rapidly.

I never imagined I’d see the day when this channel would do a technology review for second hand goods. Recycling is good, but when there’s no other option and you’re trying to normalise it, is a third world country situation. Get out there and push back against the tariffs before things truly collapse.

I’m happy with my iPhone 11📱 and since there’s no LCD options I think I will hold onto to it for a long while.
