They explicitly repeated multiple times that it won’t be used in any context where it will be expected to hurt people, like the military and police force.

DARPA is for the military plus policies change all the time.

@@teslasoftwareupdates6017 Company culture determines how often policies change, so I’d advise not looking at other companies to gauge that.

DARPA is indeed for the military, but we both know what he meant.

So funny when people say stuff like this. As if you have any real choice when the united states gvt/military decides they are going to do whatever they want
They will. You think just because Boston dynamics says they won’t it means no one ever will?

Besides tricks, what use are these robots? Who is using them and for what? They look like really cool, expensive toys to me.
The world is filled with cheap labor and I have a robot vacuum cleaner already.

No amount of money will keep a person working 24/7/365, a one time payment plus maintenance costs net you just that with a humanoid robot. Having a general-purpose humanoid robot results in the ability to implement automation in practically any and all physical work environments. A robo-vacuum will vacuum, on one floor, and do nothing more. A humanoid robot can vacuum on all your floors and do much more, since it operates and is designed similarly to a human (which your homes, factories, and all other environments are designed for). Not to say humanoid robots are going to be in homes any time soon but just to emphasize the reasoning behind the development of these things.

I wasn’t born yesterday, this thing is heading straight to a military application fo sho! They gonna upgrade its battery chemistry and autonomy tweak its program a little bit sprinkle some AI into it then paint it in a camouflage color and of course it finna have some sort of weapon system attached to its arms whether it’s a lethal weapon system or a none lethal one for law enforcement civilian application such as a taser for instance🤷🏾‍♂️
First they gonna deploy this thing into a handful of penal colonies and use convicts as guinea pigs like they always do then after the trial and error drill period they gonna start shipping it straight to the next police precinct near you and next thing you know this thing will be knocking on your entrance door telling you it has a warrant on you for not paying child support and you have 5 seconds to open the door before it starts busting through and tase your *zz up! While macing you at the same time…
