The problem with privacy on technology is that if the government wants to get your data, they will. It happened before when a certain isreali company cracked apples security encryption so with all due respect here theres no privacy protection really

The feds have a back door to EVERYTHING. That has been proven too many times to count. Anyone who thinks this will protect them from the feds are fools. Even TOR has been compromised at times.

I’m proud of Apple for doing this. I don’t really use Apple products. I have products from them but I use other devices. I do think that privacy is essential. Others shouldn’t be able to access your data online. Yeah, there are people who have things like they shouldn’t, like pictures of people or people who intend harm, but if the police can access that, anyone can.

Apple’s encryption is so good I can no longer open a single useful app on my old iPod Touch’s, iPhone’s, and iPad’s. It’s almost like they render their own hardware obsolete every couple of years just to protect us all, and remove us the need to buy expensive loft fillers, paper weights or door stops. I heard Tim Berner’s Lee was working on some personal security idea called “Solid”, where the user decides on what personal information is shared via customisable “Pods”, and that the user then further deicides which apps/web services can access these “Pods”. No need to to trust companies with “trust” at all.

It is misleading and disingenuous to say that Apple doesn’t collect information. It is a company that allows you to block third party apps from collecting data while giving you no way to block its own data collection that is used to target ads from Apple itself. They are dismantling competitors while building their own business using the same tactics.

Law enforcement agencies requesting information on individuals from large tech companies like Apple seems like a “fishing expedition”, which shouldn’t be allowed, because these companies have the ability to gather so much information on us, that innocuous information stored, can be used to shape a false narrative from legal authorities.

I am proud what Apple is doing, but please don’t say Apple sells gadgets unlike other companies. There are a lot of cases where apple contractors have been listening to your recorded Siri conversations. In the name of privacy, Apple is earning a lot of money by charging 30% for each payment made in the app store and the main reason Apple won’t let people to download apps through APKs, coz they will lose a lot of money from it. Apple talks about end to end encryption, but your data can be stolen only by clicking one malicious link sent to u by a scammer. Trust me, it’s not that difficult. In these cases, the encryption and stuff can’t do anything coz all the data is stored in your phone. So please stop assuming that using an iphone protects your data and rest of the phones don’t.

In today’s society, you have to give your information to someone if you want to keep up with technology. I’d rather give it to Apple, who seemingly wants very little to do with it, as opposed to Google, who desperately wants it.

Although this all good and is very useful to all users across apple’s platform. Apple never does anything that doesn’t benefit them by ten fold over their users. This is just a ticking time bomb to when it gets leaked just like how other encryption types meet the same fate. It is still better than nothing of course but don’t put all your eggs in one basket. This is all the same as how a lock making company will never defeat a lock picker.

Apple should instead make their devices unhackable, because advanced encryption is useless against malware like Pegasus that captures everything including live camera and an attacker can install over the air. There are governments and malicious organizations spending millions to hack iPhones. The journalists, for example, that that advanced encryption promises to protect, have been murdered by being targets of the malware. While Advanced Encrpyption allows Apple to have less of a liability by black-boxing the data it own on cloud, what good is advanced encryption for the end-user then?

if apple does make a wifi device, they can bake more security into it and add passkeys as well with hardware security and more encryption with more of their services added there for more security. That can also help greatly with MIM attacks as well.

CNET is wrong! A judge can order access to law enforcement. In fact, it may not take a judge to do it because in certain countries overseas, a cop can stop you and plug something into your phone, forcing the information to be made available.
I’ve seen it make a few mistakes before and you can’t email them to get them corrected.
