These are the deal breakers for me on the iPhone Duo:
1. Inferior camera (no telephoto lens).
2. No Face ID .
3. Passport size is just the wrong size for those who don’t wear cargo pants or baggie pants. The iPhone Duo is quarter inch wider than the iPhone 17 Pro Max and 2.55 mm thicker, it probably will not fit into the hip pocket of my skinny pant in the Summer or the chest pocket of my fleece in the Fall.
4. Last but not least, has someone tried to hold the Duo up to your ear to make a phone call? It might look absolutely idiotic.
These are the much bigger hurdles to me than the price point (I spent about $2K for the iPhone Pro Max anyway).
I will wait till they fix the camera deficiency and Face ID issues, and make it more “pocketable” in size, then I will consider buying it. Right now, it is a solid “NO”.

The Samsung z fold 8 ultra is just about the same size as a normal phone if you use the front screen which is easy to slip into a pocket. It’s also thinner than the Duo. Has both fingerprint and face ID. It just seems like apple could have done a better job on their foldable. Samsung has them beat a month in advance.

@cmdrdredd Agree that Apple has been chasing Samsung on the phone design. However, the Z Fold only makes up about 2% of Samsung’s phone sales globally.

📌Samsung Fold 8: 201grams thin and light like a slabphone that magically transforms into a light & thin tablet which is a pleasure to carry and use.
📌Apple Duo: 254grams thick and heavy which turns into 298grams when case is added. Thick & heavy and difficult to carry around feeling its heavy weight alll the time.

Samsung customization is endless. lol you can move controls anywhere on the phone. Apple moving them to the right side is not some novel idea 😂.

I have a little Nokia flip-phone that looks just like new but won’t work because it’s 4G. This supposedly new “foldable” phone is OLD NEWS but it’s 5G and smart and most people either don’t know or have forgotten about the flip-phones from the 90’s.

Upside of waiting for a device that is basically inferior to the Samsung device that came out a month earlier? No face ID, the size is wrong (z fold 8 ultra is about the size of a normal smart phone when using the front screen), it’s thicker than the zfold 8 ultra and more awkward to hold, missing camera features that should be there.
