What I really want is a tier where I get Apple Tv – Apple News and some extra storage. While I might shift over to Music from Spotify, I’ve never seen the value in either Fitness and Arcade. Yet you can’t get News in a bundle unless you’re at the highest package ☹

    • @BridgetCarey

      July 25, 2025 at 11:15 am

Yeah I pay the highest anyway for all the storage but then really enjoyed the value in News+ and use it every morning with a bunch of widgets on my screen just for different topics like sections of a newspaper. But I agree it would be amazing to have different custom packages if you only need iCloud+ a specific app.

@@BridgetCarey I’m a big library guy so I love magazines on Libby but the audio feature – with real readers – and a couple of titles that keep me on Apple News. Keep in mind I’m the guy who about cried when Apple bought out Texture and moved it to Apple only.

  3. @Thron2111

    July 25, 2025 at 10:54 am

In Europe News isn’t even in the subscription and I think it’s more expensive and it’s still a good deal, even though I don’t use fitness+ anymore.

  4. @alanchrishughes

    July 25, 2025 at 11:58 am

But most of that money comes from Apple taking 30% cuts from other businesses, and if the recent court ruling stands, all that income will go away.

I know people love to bash on Apple a lot and I was one of them but I just can’t anymore. I’m 59 and I could care less for social media but I do love music Netflix etc. The one thing I love is the ecosystem. I have a lot of apple products and recently I traded my iPhone 16 pro max for my friends s25 ultra. I regretted it for one simple reason when I take medication. I like to remind myself I took it so I could type in on my watch phone or tablet and all 3 would get the notification but when you start using a Samsung phone it messes everything up. I’m sure people will hate on me for that and that’s fine but if your forgetful like me it works perfectly

You didn’t even mention apple’s Brand new Apple Care bundle services. You can now bundle 3 apple devices for $19/month and ALL of them get Lost / Stolen device protection plus it’s now cheaper if you have multiple devices. You can add more than 3 devices at $5.99 per device after the first 3

I have always been a Google user and all my purchases are tied into their ecosystem except for my security cameras. I went with Ubiquiti cameras. I love them.

Google has the attention span of a toddler. They are too cheap to pay for a Dolby Atmos license to cover the movies they rent/sell. My 83 inch Sony 4K OLED runs Google TV OS. I have stopped purchasing/renting movies from Google since they don’t support Atmos. Google plans on releasing an alternative to Atmos, which I’m sure will fail. I switched over to buying/renting movies through Apple TV. The only downside is that I have to login to my laptop since Apple’s app won’t allow you to make purchases unless you’re using an Apple device.

I need a tablet to display photos of my deceased dog in order to memorialize her. I decided to go with Apple because you can’t trust Google with tablets.

The Apple Studio, and all the building that Apple now own. To replace the CEO now will be a mistake. Huge not just in the USA but globally.

I just switched from Spotify to Apple Music and while I like the app, I just hate how I get access to more content on Spotify but not on Apple Music. Many of my favorite artists are behind geo-restrictions on Apple Music that I really enjoyed on Spotify. I believe they have to work on their licensing for music content because if it’s available on Spotify in my region, it means it is possible to get it on Apple Music, they are just not doing enough to make it available. Other than that, I really enjoy using the Apple Music app on my devices, even on my android phone and tablet.

  41. @BobBack86

    July 28, 2025 at 2:26 pm

iCloud storage is a bad joke. If you get an iPad and iPhone you’ll not have enough space even to backup the settings as both devices will consume more than the ridiculous 5GB they offer.

  42. @needleontherecord

    July 28, 2025 at 3:57 pm

Apple services are pretty good but I have dropped them now and many others due to the cost of subscritions that keep going up. My iphone has lots storage so I have around 120gb of music on board and the rest for photos and apps. I use other free streaming music services and only pay for games I like. I stream everything else off a server
(Old mac mini) and it works just fine. News is free from Google.

Probably because they decided it’s best to just have as many cards on the table as possible right from the start, so to speak. The thing that always gets on my nerves is hidden fees. I mean sure Apple Isn’t perfect. But one thing i’m surprised i actually like is the way they collect data, it’s kind of adorable. And i’m not sure if i should be concerned that i’m not concerned.

Literally not one useful new feature. All this video did was remind to cancel my Apple One service as most of the services absolutely suck.
    AppleTV+ – 90% of the productions suck.
Apple News – no ability to filter all of the fake liberal crap news.
Apple Fitness – great tech, horrible overly chatting instructors with overbearing crap music.
Arcade – Dumb. Just too dumb for words (or any adult to use).
Apple Music – Awesome. The one service that Apple actually does very well.
