So I’m confused I own the $8000+ pro XDR display which is supposed to have the same brightness, however my monitor is 6k …. but has fans built into it …… I’d like to know how they were able to fit the similar spec in a thin iPad Pro ???

    • Qif Ry

      April 20, 2021 at 11:53 pm

the word similar and same is different

    • Vince

      April 20, 2021 at 11:59 pm

They’ve engineered this form factor for over a decade and all they did this year was replace the backlight. Just wait and soon enough there will be mini LED phones.

    April 20, 2021 at 11:23 pm

what the point of buying it for the M1 chip now and pay a huge price when you cant get to use at full power, even the iPad pro 2020 I can’t find a game or app that benefit and use the CPU and GPU at maximum level everything is dumb down to keep it compatible with older and cheaper ipads

    • Vince

      April 21, 2021 at 12:10 am

@Socom Master, why’d you want to buy a device everytime there’s a successor? You’d go broke.

    • Socom Master

      April 21, 2021 at 12:13 am

@Vince why buy apple products at all?

    • Ben Greenwald

      April 21, 2021 at 1:00 am

@Socom Master why comment on an apple product? You are obviously bias. So stop trolling.

    • Socom Master

@Ben Greenwald im not biased i have an ipad 12.8 lol
      Im just stating a fact
Apple does minor upgrades that dont make a difference for the common man and charge a ridiculous amount for it

    • Brian B.

      April 21, 2021 at 12:24 am

Sure. But, knowing Apple, you’ll have to spend at least $2,400 in order to do it..

If the iPad Pro will have the M1 will the battery last as long as it does in the MacBook Pro?

    • Charles Jung

      April 21, 2021 at 12:38 am

Unfortunately no. It says on their website that it’ll last as long as the previous gen

  18. Matthew

    April 21, 2021 at 12:30 am

    it is just an ipad.

  19. contemplatively

    April 21, 2021 at 12:49 am

The fact that there’s no new magic keyboard and pencil is a big deal to me, especially because it’s very likely that they may get much needed improvements in next year’s versions. So if I buy the Pro this year with a magic keyboard and pencil, next year I’ll probably regret buying the magic keyboard and pencil this year. And I really need these two accessories. So I’m really really not sure that buying the Pro this year is a good idea even for someone like me who’s still on the very first Pro from 2015.

  20. Mario

What are the chances it will run osx in the future?

  21. Ad Den

    April 21, 2021 at 12:59 am

    2TB, Bloody expensive $2400 !

  22. Archie Lundy

    April 21, 2021 at 1:09 am

Price points are absurd. Calvin Klein figured out how to sell a $2 pair of underpants for $35. Apple has learned this lesson.

  23. Jerry Locke

    April 21, 2021 at 1:11 am

I have a 2018 iPad Pro and I love it. I have absolutely no reason to upgrade. It does everything I want it to do.
So with that being said, I’ll be ordering my new 12.9” iPad Pro on the 30th. ????‍♂️

  24. allstarkidXD

    April 21, 2021 at 1:20 am

It has a m1 chip and 16gb of ram with the 1tb and 2tb versions i sure hope wwdc will introduce a revamped or advanced iPadOS 15 because all thats holding it now is its os and software

  25. Michael Hauger

    April 21, 2021 at 1:26 am

For a lot of people, I wouldn’t get that. But if you wanna flirt with the Wild West of iPad technology, you’re gonna have some fun and creativity with that.

  26. Rocky Kumar

    April 21, 2021 at 6:13 pm

The most important thing in an iPad is portability and 12.9” is not exactly portable for me. I would rather use a 13.3 Mac if I have to to that size range. It’s sad 11” model was devoid of the mini Led screen.

  27. SkillipEvolver

    April 21, 2021 at 6:30 pm

    ‘Mac-Like’….. except iPadOS…. aka…… not mac-like. :-/

£2000 overall for the high end device. What, the, entire, f**k

  29. David Ko

    April 21, 2021 at 6:49 pm

It would be nice if Apple finally came out with an Ipad that has a 4K screen and 120hz display.

    • BT Movie

      April 21, 2021 at 8:05 pm

A regular iPad with 120hz? Because this one already has it, right?

    • David Ko

      April 21, 2021 at 9:10 pm

@BT Movie Sorry, your right it does have a 120hz display. But it does not have a 4K screen. I wish the Ipads and the Iphones had 4K screens.

    • Squid Screw

      April 21, 2021 at 11:46 pm

@David Ko why do u want 4k in 6-7 inch device?

    • David Ko

      April 22, 2021 at 12:33 am

@Squid Screw Don’t even go there because the Sony Experia 1 iii cell phone already has a 4K screen, and the year before that too. Secondly, 4K technology has been out for a long time now and it should be incorporated in all displays by now. I don’t understand the holdup.

  30. Otar

    April 21, 2021 at 6:53 pm

Are you kidding me I just bought the iPad pro 2020 version, and now…F????

Who saved their stimmy for this?

  35. Joynul Ahmed

    April 21, 2021 at 8:23 pm

Don’t see any real benefit in using the M1 in these compared to the A12Z unless you’re going to give access to macOS apps. On a separate note, I’m glad they’re finally differentiating between the 12.9 and 11 inch model, should make choosing between them a lot easier than before which always drove me mad ????

  36. Daniel Martinez Jr

    April 21, 2021 at 8:38 pm

    I got the $ I wanted I’ll buy it with 512GB 12.9 Mini-LED

  37. LarryUK

    April 21, 2021 at 8:45 pm

I have the 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 and it’s wonderful. I watch YouTube in bed on it and the quality is amazing. I didn’t know about the lidar. Do I have it?

  38. darren

    April 21, 2021 at 9:00 pm

Hey CNET, is it like with the M1 MacBooks, meaning that developers need to optimize the apps for the M1? Do even all iPadOS apps run on the M1 iPad Pro?

  39. KeybladeSenel

    April 21, 2021 at 9:05 pm

I’m gonna sell my current one for 900 and use it to get the newer one

  40. Ay Kirkpatrick

    April 21, 2021 at 9:44 pm

Should I upgrade to this new 12.9 from a 10.5?

  41. PC Gamer

    April 21, 2021 at 10:06 pm

I’ve been waiting for 5 years for Apple to introduce a new display technology in the iPad Pro. And there a ton of other features that have been added over the past updates. Finally, I can upgrade!!

  42. lob ops

    April 21, 2021 at 10:49 pm

Launch in the market fast ????????????

  43. Richard van Tricht

    April 21, 2021 at 10:52 pm

Happy with my tab s7+. Never going back to an ipad pro.

  44. Elizabeth Simoes

    April 21, 2021 at 11:12 pm

    Wow..start saving to get this..

  45. Andy Martinez

    April 21, 2021 at 11:28 pm

I still use I pad pro first gen only used for entertainment tv show , sport channels and shopping ????. I would like a 16 inch display

  46. TomatoJuice

    April 22, 2021 at 12:00 am

    No Touch ID? :/

  47. spikeXL88

    April 22, 2021 at 12:05 am

If this thing could play pc games it would be a instant buy for me. My steam library on the go would be awesome.

  48. Craigels Alpaca

    April 22, 2021 at 12:47 am

Man I would really wished they upgraded the 11 inch screen sadness

  49. lolo mo

    April 22, 2021 at 1:08 am

All that power pull down by the ipadOS. Sell that tablet with macOS and it will sell like pancakes.

  50. Carlos Vega

    April 22, 2021 at 1:13 am

I bought the iPad Pro 2020. I’ll give this one a pass probably. When they unlock something that the M1 can do that mine can’t then I’ll bite. Like unlimited app windows opened on the screen or something like that, then I’ll replace my 11” Pro now with the 13”.
