Siri was the first mass consumable assistant and yet is the most useless to this day over a decade later. I’m not going to bet on an Apple AI. They’re good at plenty of things, but AI is something they clearly couldn’t be less interested in.

    • @addyjain1375

      February 17, 2024 at 2:13 pm

That’s so true. Plus they don’t have the data to make LLMs as they can’t even use user data. Plus google being such a big giant on data having the most useless LLMs is evidence that Apple can’t do shit.

It keeps making more and more sense why Apple pushed themselves so hard to develop and own their own chips. Whether it’s powering the unique needs of the Vision Pro, their upcoming push into AI, or the EV in 2028, by owning the chips they can perfectly tailor them to the needs of their increasingly advanced hardware and software combinations. On device AI is going to be a game changer.

Behind the scenes they are not behind at all. They just don’t want to push an unfinished product in everyone’s face. I expect siri to get a huge update later this year.
