An Extreme Weather Report From America’s Weatherman | Al Roker | TED
It’s not just you: the weather is getting worse. And if there’s one person who would know, it’s “America’s weatherman,” Al Roker, who’s spent decades reporting live from some of the worst storms and natural disasters in history. He explains how we can each take action to address climate change and work towards a more…

Folks CALM DOWN!! The weather changes ALL THE TIME!!! The Sun has a lot to do with our weather, and we are in the midst of SUN CYCLE 25. This cycle is known to be extremely violent with CME’S and Filament ejections.
Remember that GOD CONTROLS THE WEATHER!!

If as an individual, you care, the best thing YOU can do is go WFPB. WFPB from a Western diet is 75% LESS POLLUTING. We need to stop pointing fingers at others to do something first and start voting with our wallets.

You complain about tiny individuals burning fossil fuels, yet you seem very concerned about our fighting forces, who happen to waste more fuel into the atmosphere than any other conglomerate.

I’m yelling here: YES, AL, AND NOW WE KNOW THAT THE EFFING US GOVERNMENT HAS ALL THE ABILITIES TO MANIPULATE THE WEATHER. LET US SEE WHAT SHAKES OUT IN MAUI.
ALL THE AGENCIES ARE CORRUPT. THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA WILL NOT REPORT ON THE UFOS. IT TURNS OUT THE GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN LYING TO AND MANIPULATING THE PEOPLE FOR DECADES. IT TOOK SOCIAL MEDIA AND RELENTLESS DIGGING TO EXPOSE IT.
THERE’S NO WAY TO KNOW WHAT IS TRUE ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE, VIRUSES, PHARMACEUTICALS, ELECTIONS, OR ANYTHING ELSE.
I’M NOT TOUCHED BY YOUR GRANDDAUGHTER STORY. THAT IS A TACTIC. WHO PAYS YOU TO EITHER LIE OR BE SILENT ABOUT THINGS? YOU’VE BEEN AROUND TOO LONG NOT TO BE GUILTY OR COMPLICIT, MR. MAINSTREAM MEDIA PERSONALITY.

There are so many weather casters globally. I’ve always wondered why each of these people never mentioned climate change for decades in their time on TV. Imagine if they all rang out as a chorus, alerting the world every day. Maybe it doesn’t have an impact, more likely it would have.

Everyone worrying about climate change should ask what effect does the aluminum and other microscopic particles that are spread across the skies, daily, have. It is highly flammable and our firefighters have said, repeatedly, fires are behaving differently, burning hotter and faster. Contrails should disappear behind planes. Everything should be investigated and debated honestly.

What about flooding? All this housing going in using stick build construction, requires massive amounts of lumber, resulting in two problems: deforestation and fuel for fires – use concrete. Also the use of non-permeable sidewalks and streets. The water has no where to go, so it’s runoff to the rivers, which can’t contain it, resulting in flooding , landslides and mud slides. These “…gotta make the money, screw the next generation”, don’t think about their anything except themselves. As Mr. Roker says VOTE, and then DEMAND action from these used car salesmen and dentists that you vote into office – oh right, they ARE the problem.

I hate leaf blowers. Where I live they are going 7 days a week, and they start at 7:00 am or earlier…everyday sometimes for 30 minutes at a time. It’s such a waste, they just blow everything onto the neighbors lots, then someone comes the next day and blows it back onto their lots. The only thing that is accomplished is a lot of dust, noise, wasted time and pollution.

After covid, people I interact with could care less about “doom” from climate change. People I know got rid of their recycle bins, traded in their Teslas, and bought big trucks. If I was a politician running for office I’d be scared of discussing this subject because distrust of the government is at an all time high. It’s sad. But imo the government brought this on themselves

Thank you. Everyone knows that the reaction of the climate change deniers will be dismissive but thankfully opinions are slowly changing.

Nice talk. But I wish he had said more about the potential for food scarcity. Crops that are destroyed by drought or fire or flood can’t feed us. Topsoil that’s washed away by flooding, or blown away by winds when it’s bone dry, can’t feed us.

With the evidence now overwhelming, climate change deniers have moved from total denial of any problem to the world is warming, but it’s part of the natural cycles so there’s no need to curb our dependence on fossil fuels. When I ask about the need to pour resources into mitigating the damages due to “natural” warming they consistently go quiet.

Everyone can sense that weather is getting wilder by the increase in news reports, but it is reinforcing to see the actual data. Unfortunately, those who could provide the leadership in both the public and private sectors have the resources to insulate themselves from the worst effects of climate change so they continue to make self-serving decisions.

James Hansen (et al.) most recent paper – “Global Warming in the Pipeline (waiting for peer review) states that the end game on the current CO2 levels (plus the forcing of all GHG’s) is 10 degrees centigrade. 4 degrees by the end of the century. We are expected to reach these temps without any changes to emissions levels. Our society is coming up to some very serious changes!!!!
