I’d like to know what race car drivers think of this and also are people going to fill the stands to watch this type of racing?

Most love it, they understand how difficult it is to drive a race car fast. Others believe this is going to replace them(which it won’t) and get defensive about it

I’m just back from a necessary 2500 mile road trip. Anything that removes the humans from driving cannot come fast enough, mostly for safety but also because driving sucks 99% of the time. Getting these incompetent, selfish, insane a$$ho1es off the road will be the best thing to happen to transportation since radial tires

No human behind wheel. That will get boring eventually and it will die out. Ppl like drama and if technically is perfect than its gonna be boring

How do you make Indy or Nascar more boring? This or this with electric racing cars. (Notice what team won, which they downplayed.)

This video was to showcase what they’re doing with the technology. The main focus wasn’t on the teams although they do play a major part.

      May 20, 2023 at 8:53 pm

@jonathan Villagomez  I ascertained that. Thank you for explaining it to someone with two PhDs from one of the highest ranked colleges in the world. I know you didn’t know. It’s called a joke. This is just so corporations can get cheap technology advances. Offer a prize and have others do, wgst they can’t. Now, if the teams had their own hardware, that’s an entirely different story. It behooves one to watch out because then major money would funnel in for even more profit.

Maybe now racing technology can actually advance once again. It has been 30 years since race sanctioning bodies decided race cars couldn’t go any faster in the name of human driver safety.

Correction: The first Indy Autonomous Challenge in Indianapolis had a payout of $1million, not the one at CES that we visited.
