    They have to forge their own future. If that future means girls unable to attend school, hardline islamic rule, and all that goes with that so be it. The western world tried, perhaps foolishly, to change a culture. When it came to defend that new way of life, the Afghanistan army vanished into oblivion and was overrun in weeks. What does that mean?

    This is beyond sad. When will the world learn to help us assist those in dire need such as the Afghan people? The US took the wrong approach.

      @Anoetic OddZero – I’m speaking solely of the U.S. government aid, which alone makes it the largest humanitarian aid donor.

      @Anoetic OddZero – I don’t need to ask. It’s documented; approx. $20 billion annually.

      The Biden administration, under the first indigenous Secretary of the Interior, just allocated another $1.7 billion for indigenous nations.

    Kiana says “Welcome the people” BUT she DID NOT QUOTE CHAPTER AND VERSE FROM THE TRUSTED SOURCES TO SHOW WHY THE TALIBAN (Student of Islam) acts the way they do!!!!
    SHE DOES NOT SAY WHETHER SHE IS AN APOSTATE, AND IF SHE IS WHAT IS THE PUNNISHMENT FOR BEING AN APOSTATE IN AN Islamic society!!!
    HAVING 4 WIVES AND OUT BREEDING ANY OTHER RELIGION.
    AFGHANISTAN WAS NOT ALWAYS Islamic!!!

    “I watched in disbelief as 20 years of progress in women’s rights, education, and freedom of expression dissapeared.”

    Yet she calls it an “American Invasion”.

    I never thought of my part as that of an invader. For me, it was an investment. My group taught Afghan Soldiers how to detect and disarm the Russian landmines they left scattered across the country. We also detected and disarmed IEDs that posed a real threat to the civilian population.

    I also had the opportunity to deliver school supplies to the local Elementary school.

    ^^Actual facts of what an American Soldier did in Afghanistan.

    It hurts me to know that Afghans think of it as a 20 year invasion.

    Best wishes for the Country and the wonderful people that live there.

In a part of the United States with more than 17,000 years of human history, cultural preservation advocate Tracie Revis is working to turn the Ocmulgee Mounds into Georgia’s first national park and preserve. This park would be co-managed by the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, bringing the tribal voice back to an area they were forcibly removed from 200 years ago. Revis explores the complex feelings of caring for this land and shows how it’s fostering healing in return.

Hundreds of millions of migrant workers travel within their countries to seek out means of survival — often leaving behind all they know for months or even years. Many face poverty and exploitation, and they need a robust social safety net to protect them, says migrant advocate and 2023 Audacious Project grantee Ashif Shaikh. He shares how his grassroots organization Migrants Resilience Collaborative is making life-changing benefits like social security and health care accessible to those who need them while also amplifying migrant voices — paving the way towards a world that supports the workers actually building it. (This ambitious idea is a part of the Audacious Project, TED’s initiative to inspire and fund global change.)
