We know capitalism exacerbates injustice and inequality worldwide. So how can we fix it? Professor and social entrepreneur Manish Bhardwaj thinks we need to integrate “moral clarity” — which he defines as “doing the right thing because it is right, and not from fear of sanction or in expectation of reward” — into society at a foundational level. In this practical talk, he explains how to use the language of moral clarity as a compass for organizations, communities and our personal lives — and how it could help create a more just world.

There’s no new idea here; Just a preachy NeoMarxist rambling about false criticisms of capitalism.

An AI could spit out platitudes and cliches and it would be just as useful.

Just another get woke go broke message of we can fix everything by hiring women and minorities. So much for not discriminating. That is still hiring based on race and gender rather than qualifications and skills.

The answer is simple. Get money out of politics. Get rid of the concept of corporations are people. Get rid of the concept of money is speech. Get rid of the identity politics. Get rid of the legal requirement of public corporations to increase profits at all costs.

Capitalism will not be fixed through identify politics and divisive rhetoric. Corporate greed and political corruption are the root problem that need to be fixed.

@jodders No class is part of Marxism not part of Capitalism. The point of Marxism is to pit classes or groups against each other. The point of capitalism is to act in your own self interest. This may or may not involve being part of a class or group

@Jerry Miller that’s just being delusional if you don’t see class. Of course bootlickers are delusional. Marxism when it is a critique of capitalism recognised classes within capitalism. But when socialism is established, there are no classes.

Capitalism doesn’t have a problem. We don’t have real capitalism because governments are broken. In true capitalism we don’t have a fractional reserve banking system. People are generally agreeable, however the banking system perpetuates the devaluation of our earning thus maintaining the poor class.

Women still get pregnant more often, men do all the dangerous jobs. Also, you cant address the fundamental issue with capitalism, the wealthy has their enforcers in government and they wont lit go of the power and money. Best of luck.

I agree with everything he has to say; except that global corporations don’t have any overriding incentive to moral; at the same time having an incentive to make more money for their shareholders. Just look at Fossil Fuel companies.

A noble goal, but difficult to achieve, because nature is not just. We would to have to overcome our natural limitations of greed to beat injustice.

That said I hope that one day we humans manage to do so before we ruin the planet.

Capitalism suffers government meddling, creating corporatism, crony-capitalism, instead of free market capitalism. If you socialize the risk while privatizing the profits, you are a fascist, and you don’t get to blame capitalism for your tyranny.

In a free market, you are free to operate exactly as this guy wants. Try it. Prove it. Show it’s better in some way. Just don’t use government violence to force it down the throats of people who don’t hold your views.

Government forced standardization against the liberty of individuals is what creates all the problems and blocks all the innovation that would better resolve them with smart trade-offs. Government is where systemic racism starts, and systemic poverty, systemic violence, etc.

Well how about businesses the world over engage with the voices of their workers as delivered through their elected union reps and stop all union busting? If business wants to do what is right because it is right, it starts there.

CAPITALISM WON’T WORK FOR ANYONE BUT RICH PEOPLE: ALWAYS HAS ALWAYS WILL. SOME PEOPLE DON’T WANT TO HOARD ALL THE WEALTH, SOME DO. AS LONG AS YOU MAKE IT LEGAL, THEY WILL TAKE EVERYTHING FROM THE COMMUNITY OF OTHER HUMANS.

What is that oozing from underneath the door of the Walnut Creek police department?
It is pure evil, wickedness, hate and racism.

The amount of ignorance on the TED stage in recent years is a travesty. Why is this speaker attributing the ills of the world to capitalism? The world has many different types of systems (e.g. socialism, authoritarianism, communism), and wealth inequality doesn’t differ much from one to another (actually it’s better in capitalism than some others). You’ve got the wrong diagnosis, it would be more productive to say: As amazing and wonderful as capitalism is, how do we make it even better? Take some time to celebrate the good before complaining about the imperfect. It will help with your depression.

Sure you can still go from the bottom rung to the CEO / top role. Look at the CEO of one of the top investment managers in the world (Wellington Investments). The speaker needs to start living in the actual world. Also, “everyone” told you cutting infant mortality rates in half was impossible? I don’t think that’s true, I think you’re lying. Finally, I think there is a positive correlation between sociopathy and overuse of the word “folks.”

The amount of ignorance on the TED stage in recent years is a travesty. Why is this speaker attributing the ills of the world to capitalism? The world has many different types of systems (e.g. socialism, authoritarianism, communism) and wealth inequality (as one example) is better in capitalism than some others. You’ve got the wrong diagnosis, it would be more productive to say: As amazing and wonderful as capitalism is, how do we make it even better? Take some time to celebrate the good before complaining about the imperfect.

Also, it’s untrue that a person can’t go from the bottom rung to the CEO / top role (e.g. current CEO of Wellington Investments). The speaker needs to start living in the actual world instead of creating these untrue strawmen. Also, “everyone” told you cutting infant mortality rates in half was impossible? That’s obviously true. Finally, I think there is a positive correlation between sociopathy and overuse of the word “folks.”

Technology could ultimately run society, freeing people from money and work.

We need to take steps now to make sure that when technology ultimately replaces human workers, it benefits society and not large corporations.

Tax the use of technology. Use this tax to give EVERYONE a free Universal Basic Income. Doing this will ultimately make money redundant when technology becomes prevalent.
