Argo AI CEO Salesky Sees US Deployment of Autonomous Vehicles, Plots IPO
May.04 — Argo AI, the autonomous driving startup backed by Ford and VW, has revealed a new long-range lidar. The company’s CEO Bryan Salesky says it gives Argo an edge in deploying self-driving cars commercially. Salesky spoke exclusively to Bloomberg’s Ed Ludlow about the technology, its financing plans and regulation.

Lidar is a crutch. Local maximums are enticing, but that’s as far as you’ll get with Lidar.

@Motivation Factory Go back to comment #1: Lidar is a crutch. They’ll have L4 success with it, but that’s it. Only Tesla will get to truly autonomous anywhere driving, even on roads no Tesla has ever seen before.
Ask yourself, why hasn’t Waymo expanded their L4 solution anywhere in YEARS if Lidar is so great?

@Motivation Factory A light breakfast. It takes me all morning and into the afternoon to swim through my piles of TSLA earnings. Can’t be on too full of a stomach to accomplish so much in a few hours.

So they are recreating vision at 100x the cost compared to camera’s nice…
