It should be 1080p at 120fps on its dock, and 1080 and 60fps at portable. And plus, 3DS backward compatibility.

4k my ace, my current switch does 1080p at 10fps… Functional 1080p is more likely.

What about games we downloaded? Will we be able to use it on the new switch?

    • Yusei255

      March 5, 2021 at 11:24 pm

You just transfer data between the old switch and the new one

      Simple as that.

  27. James L

    1080p 60fps and it’s day one buy!

720p in portable mode, and 4K in dock mode is a bit too big of a stretch. It will be a nightmare for developers to design the 2 far apart resolution and resources to actually take advantage of the 4K. 1080p portable and 4K docked would make much more sense as a combo, or 720p portable and 2K (1440p) docked maybe the 2K would be upscaled to 4K but the render would just be in 2K so that the difference from 720p won’t be as big.

Honestly if they want to call it an upgrade, they should make it 1080p portable, so that existing switch users would actually consider to upgrade. If that’s the case though, developer will need to make the game usable in 3 different resolutions and don’t just leave the 720p behind in terms of in game resources.

    March 5, 2021 at 12:02 pm

There allegedly will also be exclusive titles for the New 3d… um… Switch pro that will only work on that device.
    Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

Finallyyyyy 4k is the future 😉

    • Yusei255

      March 5, 2021 at 11:26 pm

      Don’t count on 4k in hand-held mode.

Cos it simply isn’t going to happen.

  31. Noodles1771

    March 5, 2021 at 12:21 pm

The buttons on the switch are way too small.

  32. Logan Gardner

    March 5, 2021 at 12:25 pm

So it has a slightly larger oled screen and the new dock can upscale to 4K. That’s probably what’s really happening here

  33. Mister Nibba

    March 5, 2021 at 2:04 pm

Yeah i don’t think a tiny processor in a portable console can run games at 4k, docked or not docked. Be realistic

After 1 month with a samsung galaxy I can noticed a line that divide the screen in 2 different tonality of colors and I am not the only one with that issue. It seems like all samsung phone have that problem. I hope nothing happend with the new switch screen…

Why do some reporters not mention the fact that Nintendo actually came out and said they would never release a “Switch Pro”?
Something else a lot of people are picking up on but not everyone is that, this leak came from the placement of an order for SCREENS from samsung, how did they get to the 4K output information?? The SCREEN manufacturer would have absolutely nothing to do with the display output and its resolution, so where has this 4K information come from??
I do think this will be the Switch 2, released at E3 next year. The screen staying at 720p makes sense, as even at 7in 720p is perfectly adequate and saves on battery, it also keeps the cost down. We will probably hear about a new Tegra chip from NVIDIA just before, as to not give away too soon that Nintendo has a new console on the way.
A few people noticed that the Pokémon Legends footage looked a bit laggy (Outside of the lag of the livestream), which some believe might be because they are running on a reference device that could possibly the Switch 2, though I also believe it is just as or more likely that the game is still in the early stages, which is why it still looks a lot like Breath of the Wild.
Nintendo is very well known for its VERY incremental upgrades of its hardware, 1080p had been widespread during the Wii days, but we have only just seen it on their mainline consoles 10 years later! I believe the graphics improvement will be more for greater render distances for better open world playability and greater particle densities.

  42. James Fenlon

    March 5, 2021 at 8:10 pm

Imagine this a switch with a slot similar to the DS and the DS lite that plays 3DS or ds games i know it wont happen but i would buy it imedietately

  43. James Fenlon

    March 5, 2021 at 8:17 pm

They shouldnt change the joycons so a controller can be backwards compatilbe with all revisiins drift should be fixed tho

  45. Jordan Brooke

OLED screen is a downgrade. The amount of screen burn it will have after two weeks will be horrendous with all the status info on the screen all the time. Not a good move on Nintendo’s part.

I just purchased Mario edition switch a week ago……and I don’t feel happy as I see this video…..

    • Nick Jaime

      March 6, 2021 at 5:33 pm

Don’t worry, no chip has been released that’ll replace the Tegra that’s in the switch. Until Nintendo can find a replacement for that chip, I can only see minor changes.

  61. Nick Jaime

    March 6, 2021 at 5:30 pm

What’s funny is seeing all these videos about the switch getting an update with 4k. My question is what chip is going to run it. There hasn’t been an update to the Tegra that’s in the switch, so what chip would make it backwards compatible and play in 4k.

Knowing Nintendo and if they do release a Pro version, it’s going to be the same screen but bump the resolution to Max 1440p and the graphical power is on par with a PS4 Pro.

  72. SirRaptor

They also need a better wifi card in them.

  73. Microtonal Milio

    March 6, 2021 at 11:01 pm

Many people are going to be mislead as I can see from the comments. This new switch WILL NOT DO 4K in handheld, it will still be 720p, the screen is still 720P.
It will do checkerboard 4K when docked, not in handheld. There is no device on planet earth as of this writing that is technology capable of 4K gaming in a switch sized compartment.
