This will be good to mix music with as a display using XR

The reason people were uncomfortable with the original Google Glass and privacy still remains. Glass-holes they were called

Anyone wearing camera glasses should be punched in the face.

Most people are struggling with gas prices, yet this is what tech companies are working towards? Who is the target audience?

There are plenty of people who are not as price sensitive as others.

So that’s more Google Glasses heading to the Google graveyard of failed products next year 🤭

I sincerely hope that they release an audio-only range. I really think the glasses with a screen built in will have too much stigma attached. The thought that the person you are talking to might also be looking at a screen is very off-putting. Plus the tech isn’t compact enough yet I don’t think.
I think in the future they might become socially acceptable but I think the road to get to that point is only after we’ve become very accustomed to an audio-only version of smart glasses.
I think the audio version is still very useful though – being able to listen to a podcast without headphones or ask Gemini a question without getting your phone out would be fantastic.

single displays are incredibly unnatural. I originally purchased the Meta Ray Ban Displays and then ultimately decided to cancel them because after thinking through the demo, I just didn’t feel like I would enjoy it as much as I do the display glasses like XREAL Pros. AR glasses need dual displays. they just make smart glasses with a single monitor feel unnatural and dumb.

Seems like this tech space is in its infancy. I think I’ll wait for her to mature more.

ill wait for maybe 3 yrs / 3 iterations before taking them serious

  12. @barrsm

    May 7, 2026 at 11:13 am

A key question is will these glasses support a wide prescription range? Meta’s glasses and the Galaxy XR have disappointing prescription support. Seems like people who wear glasses would be a large, natural market for smart glasses.

I can’t imagine how many law suits they will get from people having accidents wearing those glasses

The smart glasses are a big deal for people who are visually impaired and Sam over on the YouTube Channel called The Blind Life does a fantastic job of reviewing them all from many different companies

  15. @clintonelliott340

I would not want people videoing me with smart glasses… it’s an invasion of privacy… especially at restaurants, pools, beaches, etc.

I’m interested in Project Aura for all the reasons expressed in the video and the FOV. I just hope they are comfortable to wear for long periods of time including any heat produced.

I’m blind, I’m in the market for smart glasses, and I’ve got money, lol. I’ll definitely be monitoring the development of these new glasses to see how they compare with the other options on the market. I’m getting myself a pair of smart glasses for Christmas; they will really improve my daily life!

A market study of WHAT THE PUBLIC WANTS would increase sales, instead of offering substandard phone calls, and limited abilities like videos not linked to the phone storage! Let them have the ability to display text in heads-up from multiple phone apps, for example. They are currently just too limited

I am really looking forward to good Smart glasses that have a display or 2 that can show texts, answer calls, use AI translate text, signs and audio and show turn by turn directions that work well and don’t cost an arm and a leg while looking fairly normal. The company(s) that do this will do well and get my business.

Man, I’m nervously excited and anxious because I’m not sure if these glasses are going to be able to have many apps to it and having them being available Nationwide and not in a very selected cities. It should be a nationwide rollout.
