We are in the capitulation phase of the retail market. The institutional cycle is just ramping up and is about to take off. Then the institutional bear market will likely end with a huge bust of a few institutions like Unbank yourself or FTX or even possibly Citadel at the end of this bull run. Bear markets end when the bear eats enough to go into hibernation. That is the cycle where institutions have their patterns and they typically have year runs and we are seeing the retail bear market and the consolidation of institutions They have the retail down and retail is capitulating right now and is soon going to be angry. My only advice? Invest in $XA50B and buckle up for massive gains.

Multiple studies have shown that elite athletes actually do live longer than the general population, contrary to what was stated in the question. Most of us don’t really care about the longevity of the tiny portion of the population who are elite athletes, because nothing we can do will make us be like them, but we might care about the longevity of exceptionally fit people – say the top 5 or 10% – whom we could reasonably hope to emulate. There is strong evidence that fitter people live and stay healthy and active for a lot longer than the average.

Excellent video. Did want to point out the error when he discusses muscle hypertrophy. We’ve established for a decade or so now that “tear and repair” muscle hypertrophy has fallen out of favor over the more accurate “mechanical tension” hypothesis.

My book recommendation to everyone who would like to read on blue zones and longevity: “Ikigai” by García&Miralles
(I know there are publications by other authors but I haven’t read those)
It’s an easy read and honestly, I love how improving health works by going back to basics because not every of our human needs requires advanced techniques. As a psychology student I can also say it touches on a lot of matters that would come up in therapy.

When its a universal truth that life on earth is mortal, then what’s the purpose of ‘living longer’?

Another factor in the “blue zone” is the happenstance of the genetics of many of the zone’s inhabitants. If my mother lived to 98 and my father lived to 102, I have an increased chance of living to an old age. If that dynamic is true with an inordinate number of the people living in a region, the region might become a blue zone.

10:30 – In that case, how would you explain soldiers who participated in one or even multiple wars (honestly, I can hardly think of anything more stress-inducing than going to war) and still lived well into their 80s or 90s? It has always perplexed me and doesn’t make any sense.

I’m calling BS on this at the first question. Nearly everyone in my family is assumed to be 15-20 years younger than they are. My mother is well into her 60s and not even grey. We still all tend to clock out at 60-70. Look good in the casket, though.

Fun fact: Dr Dan Belsky isn’t an MD. He has a degree in Psychology and a PhD in Health Policy. He’s done lots of research in Epidemiology, which is his main research focus. I am not saying this to discredit him, quite the opposite – to draw attention to the fact that people should stop assuming any doctor is a medical doctor, and that the only people who conduct research on such topics are MDs.

    • @unidentified5390

      January 12, 2026 at 4:46 pm

I doubt anybody actually wants to be “immortal”. I think the ideal lifespan would be 100-200 years healthy

  85. @feynstein1004

    January 11, 2026 at 8:44 am

In my humble opinion, the evolutionary purpose of aging is quite clear: planned obsolescence to avoid self-competition. If a certain species had individuals that never aged, they’d basically last forever and thus compete with younger, more fitter members of their own species. And if your species consists mostly of individuals like that, any sudden environmental change will most likely wipe out the entire species because it doesn’t have the ability to adapt via new, genetically different individuals. It’s the same reason companies don’t make products that last forever. Customers would never need to buy another one and eventually there’d be no one left to sell to, bankrupting the company. It’s not a stable system.

  89. @saphyre-l4w

    January 11, 2026 at 3:02 pm

Aging can be stopped, increased, decreased or maybe even reversed! We don’t know much about this subject because no one pumps money in to R&D. With advances in technology, we could keep you at your optimal age (21-25?) forever. (you’d be bored shitless but hey it’s possible). Cells multiplate and get rid of the waste build up / plaque but over time the cell cycle multiplication and waste disposal stops. We just need to find out what that STOP mechanism is and stop it (or even reverse it? who knows). Anything is possible, especially with the advent of nanotechnology.

  90. @stevecampbell2861

    January 11, 2026 at 10:07 pm

If we ever do find a way to live longer it will be even more of a tragedy when people die early. “Did you hear John died? Only 78, so young.”

This guy is so impressive. He makes a point of including longer health every time he talks about living longer, explicitly acknowledging that the goal ISN’T to live longer lives, but to live longer and healthier. So many doctors right now focus on extending a life, but an unhealthy one filled with misery. Great job. 👏

If every person’s healthcare needs to be individualized, and many doctors are so busy they ask “what do you want me to do about it?” or say (in essence)”try being perfect, then talk to me if you’re still feeling bad.” Are we looking at another AI use case?

Oh, so when it comes to men dying earlier it’s okay to reference science to explain that disparity. Got it.

as for the gendered thing, i think menopause makes women have a more “drastic” change around 50-60 and look more “old” afterwards, while men’s is more gradual, however after that 50-60 period, when we all kinda look old, men age more and worse than women do.

Why is everyone so obsessed with longevity? Does a 10% increase really add that much value to the life of an individual?

Also of course PED use confounds all the modern exercise epidemiological longevity studies.

    transition 30–40 ans
    puis ~60 ans
    avec variations individuelles.

60 was a huge increase in aging for me. The aches and pains increased more in a few years than the last 10 and my face aged all of a sudden. During my 40’s I barely changed my appearance at all.
