Based on personal and fellow restaurateurs, DD exploits their “partnerships” whereas UE takes less from the restaurants profits. DD will eventually bankrupt your favorite place.

My work involves lunch meetings with offices around southern California. I’ved used all of these services for small to larger orders and they are all terrible. They’ve all cancelled on me within an hour of delivery date, which puts me in a tough spot. All of these services are designed around the fact that the app doesn’t notify the delivery to the driver until right before. So they don’t verify if the restaurant can do the order or not. DO NOT COUNT ON THESE SERVICES if it relates to your work or you are going to be royally screwed.

Postmates is the best option, they refund you right away if you’re delivery is an hour late or incorrect.

There are no delivery fees nor service fees in the two most popular apps here in Europe, Takeaway and Foodpanda. And in the rare cases that delivery fees are applied, they are under $2 ( the most expensive).

September 18, 2020 at 7:58 pm
Of course you can. However I wouldn’t try that during peak hour, it could take 1-2 hr for your order to arrive. Worst case, DD/UberEats will can cancel your order due to no driver accept your order.

Uber Eats bought Postmates. I’d much better learn more about what they charge restaurants. It’s been said national chains get discounts, which sounds a bit anticompetitive making it harder for independent restaurants.

Pro tip: Best way is to order food is to….call it in and drive to that establishment. No one should be ordering food that is in radius of 3 miles and ordering through DD or UE.

It’s cheaper to order through the restaurant even if they use Door Dash to do the delivery. At least in my area, I’ve noticed the menu prices are slightly inflated in the Door Dash app.

MY problem with both with the contactless delivery is that I live in a condo building. Some of the drivers won’t even try and contact the customers if they have issues getting in. They just leave the food somewhere and zap off a picture of the location. Enter one blind guy, and I’m sure you see the problem. 🙂

Just recently we ordered Buffalo Wild Wings and looked at door dash and ordering from BWW app. Ordering from BWW themselves it was way cheaper plus it was delivered by Doordash anyway. I put the exact same order in both to see the price, Doordash wanted $55.42 while Buffalo Wild Wings was $42.25. Crazy that Doordash wanted $13 more for exact same food.

September 19, 2020 at 1:50 pm
This is a really bad video. These apps charge the restaurant major fees in addition to the fees they charge the customer. The fees are so large that the restaurants can’t survive. But with videos like these that help normalize these apps, the restaurateurs that don’t sign up feel left out. Conclusion, never order from a restaurant using these apps if you want your local restaurant to survive.

Im a DoorDash driver and DOORDASH has been stealing my tips…. Lately has been trying to steal my payments. If i take a $5 order and they game $5 tip, i only get paid $5. They take the tips. So please, if you guys order on Doordash please tip cash, don’t waste you money tipping online.

That’s quite ignorant if it’s because they have to pay the people delivering it. Pizza delivery has been a thing since as far back as I can remember and paying those delivery guys has to come from somewhere. Even when I was a kid, we ordered pizza.
The Desi Vegan
September 21, 2020 at 6:40 pm
New Personal That’s quite an assumption on your part, the first reasoning you think about is money. You’re dead wrong. I believe in eating fresh food eaten within 5 minutes of it being made. It tastes better than 30 minute old food. You should try it someday.
New Personal
September 21, 2020 at 7:24 pm
@The Desi Vegan Okay. Looks like you liked your own comment when you posted it and these people don’t know you. I’ve not seen anyone give that reason before for the food being fresh but I do see a lot of people complaining that delivery people need to get paid.

Hi, I am from India, and here, Uber eats is a poor performer because of the fact that they don’t have many vegetarian restaurants, and this is something I have noticed always.. the kind of restaurants also have limited menu options and many a times they’re plain uninspiring… we have other options, one called “Zomato”, an app mostly which has forayed into few south East Asian countries and maybe Eastern European countries and another called Swiggy.. this is a great comparison and if I were to be in the US, the first choice for me in terms of food ordering would be by default “doordash”… don’t know why but I somehow love that company… maybe this review also cemented my love for doordash as they charge kinda lesser delivery charges and fees compared to über eats, again depending on location and other factors… brilliant review, and yes I have heard that delivery executives kinda get grumpy if u don’t tip them properly… surprises me because here in India, whether they’re tipped or not, they can’t avoid deliveries @ all!!… differences galore!!… nice review, and the verdict is as expected, where the end user chooses what’s good for them… nice, enjoyable..

Pro-tip from driver: if you order food delivery at night PUT ON YOUR DAMN PORCH LIGHT.
If the number of your house is hard to find, behind a bush, nonexistent, leave directions which describe the color of your house, what’s in front of it,or something like that.
For example, I was delivering a late night order to an area where thr numbers were hard to find. I literally could not find rhe addresses on the houses, no lights on, and it wasn’t on the street either. Finally guy walks up and I confirm its him. I tell him sorry I couldn’t find the house numbers and he’s like yeah it’s hard to see (first flag). He tries to show me where it is and he, the person who lives there, literally could not find it himself ( mega flag)😂.You live here and you can’t find it, so how can I, I thought to myself. We said our goodbyes and I never found out where that stupid house number was.
Also, type your address in, don’t be lazy and drop the pin. The drop isn’t always accurate when you drop it. If it shows your foods dropped off and it’s not where you said to leave it go check your neighbors houses.
Just last night I had an order that was supposed to be left at the door but the address was wrong.Luckily he had preemptively texted me and described his house because when I got to the address it did not look how he told me ( same color but no green door). His house was two houses down from the listed address and if he hadn’t described his house I would have delivered it to the wrong one.
Fortunately when I discovered the error I texted him to confirm his address and he got his food.
