Why Do Some Bodies Respond Differently to Disease? | Erika Moore | TED
TED Fellow and equity bioengineer Erika Moore investigates how cells controlling inflammation behave differently depending on a patient’s background. By focusing on the “who” behind the disease, Moore is uncovering why certain diseases disproportionately affect certain ethnicities, paving the way for more inclusive and effective health care. (Recorded at TED Fellows Films 2024 on April…

RFK is a kook who is now back peddling because of past anti vaccine rhetoric.
Nothing he said, can excuse his ignorance, even claims of ambivalence is incongruous with his expertise.

Diseases are racists? Yes. Healthy diets are color blind. Fix our diets first. Especially the public school lunch programs serving junk food. 😢

I wish you luck, cause in the age of anti intellectualism, that could be a tall ask.

*Erika* without a doubt, background can be crucial. However, that is not to toss as rubbish what we know about the environment. If our background transports the ammunition, what is it that pulls the trigger? That’s the environment. In the case of our human-induced lifestyle diseases, it’s _what’s on the fork_ .

Let me put it this way. Learn to walk the walk before you talk the talk. The key is EASE in dis-ease like dis-pleasure. Healing as a point comes from your feet (soul – connects with gaia ~20hz) like a pet responds to your attention. That’s the content of the poetry to remind you of your journey from your mother;) Now, immunologically your blood clears when you’ve consumed your sugars for the morning (after even-ing supper) and toxins are now being targeted like soot and bacteria. The soot can be things now like fenty or cbd, so once medications (surgical) clear, your body taps into available gland sugars, circulatory fats (ldl/hdl) and begins to continue your daily growth stage where your culture drives your social wellbeing and dictates IF you’ve eaten enough of routine food to further heel damaged tissue. From here the medical field can respond with appropriate tincture. However, without ailment heeling comes naturally and depending on the severity it can be calculated from your bmi to account for the required cardio-pulmunary delivery requirement. Usually a day for complete heeling of superficial wounds and closure for immobile dire circumstances is expected.

But it doesn’t make sense considering her siblings are from the same background as she is. So wouldn’t the individual be the primary issue?

Also ibuprofen is a known nurological toxin. For someone on ted talking about it not working being the problem. And not the fact they marketed this toxin to us in the first place says alot.

I think this is a noble cause, but I feel like the title is misleading. The question of why different bodies have different immune responses isn’t really answered, aside from a single line about the experiment results.
It doesn’t delve into the juicy details about the mechanisms that cause this difference, and instead spends most of its runtime focusing on the disparity on research between different demographics.
There is nothing wrong with tackling this topic, but I feel like the title and the main topic are not aligned with each other, and titling it something like “Scientist helps research differing immune responses in underrepresented groups” would reflect the purpose of the video a lot better.
