By creating a compliant wheel that conforms to the terrain around it, these engineers have developed an early version of a wheelchair that can climb stairs and traverse rocky terrain. The design of the wheel was inspired by the surface tension properties of water droplets, which are rounded by gravity.

    No thanks. As a elderly person i will just go without using places that have stairs rather than accomidating cheap businesses that refuse to provide wheelchair access.
