The $20 per month for Gemini gives a bunch of experimental features using the same pricing plan as ChatGPT’s experimental features. I would rather get the stable features on the free plan.

To name it XL is overrated as this is just as if not similar size of any flagships out there in Asia.

Mrwhosetheboss, Marques, and you all drop Pixel 9 reviews at the exact same minute—triple content in my timeline. Creepy and boring at the same time.

      They’re all shills, not reviewers.

That’s when the embargo lifts and they’re allowed to start posting reviews

AI: When you can’t perfect the camera anymore, you make silly effects to fake your photos.

Why are you bashing them for including ai.
Everyone is doing it now and besides some of them are very cool and good features.
You can decide not to use them if you want.
People have been using Photoshop to edit pictures and it wowed us all. What’s wrong if some of those features are introduced into the phone using ai?

So far none of the reviews mentioning video boost feature or the temperature when using these features. This one also didn’t mention battery. The magic studio demonstration stuff was cool

    August 21, 2024 at 2:59 pm

What about compatibility with Instagram? Because on many Android smartphones, the photos in Instagram Stories, for example, look significantly worse than in the camera app. (iPhone does not have this problem)

iPhone clone using a Samsung chip.

that screen def looks dim outside. I’ll add the OnePlus 12r looks like a much better deal for half the price

Can I summon Gemini using voice commands like Google Assistant?

    • @KianFloppa

      August 21, 2024 at 6:43 pm

      yes

All Sizzle, No Steak. Truly Pixel.

I imagine the AI improvements extend to practical organisational features in google calendar, tasks and keep? But they werent mentioned by Google because theyre not as appealing to the masses as the imaging shenanigans? AI should make things simpler and not clutter up our phones with features we dont need.

    August 21, 2024 at 5:13 pm

I’m not interested in making fake images or photos with AI. Do something more useful in real life. Gemini is still not even half-baked and not even integrated with any of the apps. It just still faked human voice assistant yet.. 😅

    August 21, 2024 at 5:22 pm

I’ve heard there have been some complaints about the G4 tensor processor due to lack of power and performance after three minutes of high-performance tests
    Is it real? 🧐

Decent update but nothing here will make me switch from my iPhone anytime soon.

    So it’s a Gemini phone

I have the pixel 8 pro, I am in between on upgrading. I like the new photo features and improved screen and battery. But value wise, I’m not sure if I see it.

    • @yorkiesa

      August 22, 2024 at 12:50 am

I’m in the same boat. When it goes on sale and I can get a decent trade in credit I might consider it. The AI stuff is really secondary to the better performance. I look at the 9 Pro XL and feel like that’s what the 8 pro should have been.

    • @katinasoutherland7693

      August 22, 2024 at 11:09 am

I’m not one to tell anybody what to do but, I’d wait until next year, remember the pixel 10 is gonna be just as cool if not more than the 9. Also the 8pro is a beautiful phone id wait that’s just me.

You can really tell Steve Jobs is dead because of all these gimmicky features phone manufacturers are racing to add. We are going to live in a future of misinformation and disinformation.

  19. @chrisak49

    August 21, 2024 at 10:16 pm

All of the AI features are so half baked and laughably bad. That photo editing feature is just horrible.

  20. @JerryCherryPie

    August 21, 2024 at 10:26 pm

The phone’s not even different. Everything about it is AI based, which will come as update to all Android. No reason to get the phone. Google has been turning out junk after their Nexus phones. The first few Pixels were OK. Starting with the Pixel 6 they were using inferior hardware to all the other major players. I had a 6 and 7 and nothing but modem issues. I got an 8 because of the macro focus which I used for work a lot. but like all Pixel phones, after the first few months of new phone hype you found the issues. The phone wouldn’t connect to cellular without restarting almost daily. I’ve gone back to Samsung after many year hiatus and am much happier.

Ai is a gimmick and u gotta pay a subscription… easy pass for me lol

  22. @chrisak49

    August 21, 2024 at 10:42 pm

Google focusing on panoramas, add me, and AI editing features shows how out of touch they are with users.

  23. @gautamsaharan2397

    August 22, 2024 at 7:33 am

    AI just useless

  24. @andyH_England

    August 22, 2024 at 2:58 pm

Wait for the discounts in 3-6 months, and hopefully, we will get £300-400 off, as I can’t justify paying £1200 for the Pixel 9 Pro XL.
