OpenAI changed the voice of their AI assistant, Sky, after Scarlett Johansson formally complained that the voice was potentially based on her work in the movie “Her.” Turns out, she has some receipts backing up her claim. OpenAI says they used a different voice actor, but has since removed the voice out of respect for Johansson. All of this has us wondering, should AI companies be modeling their tech after sci-fi movies?

    I actually recognize voices very well. Still, I never associated Sky’s voice with Her’s voice. But then I was surprised that OpenAI changed Sky’s voice, which I noticed immediately. Doesn’t she sound even more like Her now?
