      Martin was indeed one of the original founders of Tesla back in 2003 (the other founder was Marc Tarpenning who served as the company’s CFO). Martin was CEO for about 4 years. Elon invested in the company in the early days, then started to become more involved in the company until he eventually took over in 2007.
