The Navajo Nation? I think you are mistaken ???? . I don’t think the test explosions for Oppenheimers special effects hurt anyone. And the US never dropped nukes on their own people

The wide shot looked dogshit. It looked TOO tall and not that wide, that’s the only bad thing. I think the close ups were great though

That nuclear explosion was a bit of a let down honestly. I feel like they could’ve easily given a bigger bang and mushroom cloud with todays special effects

    March 8, 2024 at 4:03 pm

Imo he’s taken the idea of ‘no CG’ too far in this case. Watch any video of a real nuclear explosion, then watch the one in Oppenheimer… It’s a let down. It is so obviously a bunch of gasoline being blow up. It doesn’t have the scale or aggressiveness of a nuke. It didn’t inspire awe and horror in the same way as a nuke. A bit of CG would have amplified this scene and made it better.

      March 8, 2024 at 7:03 pm

not only that but they actually did use cg in the process. they just started with things they filmed.

    • @EvanSchurr

      March 10, 2024 at 9:54 am

Yeah this was a huge misstep. If you look at the early nuke tests it looks nothing like Nolan’s movie. There is like a ball of plasmised air at first and then the big explosion/mushroom cloud as a giant shockwave of ejected earth races across the ground. Nolan’s explosion was a huge whiff, I almost laughed in the theater

That documentary was terrible and very low budget done imo.

    • @Donnerwamp

      March 8, 2024 at 4:55 pm

Probably because he used a different explosive in a bomb size of 10kT of TNT to recreate the explosion.

    March 8, 2024 at 7:02 pm

lies. they used a ton of cg
