Doesn’t call 911? Tech savvy elderly are already wearing an Apple Watch (or similar) paired with their phone. For the (more common) non-tech savvy elderly, the solution needs to be Very Simple—including charging. This already seems too fiddly for its target audience.

Yea… Grandpa and grandma will accidentally touch that button…

I was just thinking last night, “everyone’s robot should replace their phone since it should follow them around anyway, a robot and a wrist mounted screen, that’s the move!”

Brilliant, minus the monthly charge. Add Bluetooth and it should just be able to use your phone’s service like any other headphone set.

The intention is good, but a???? phone cane is a bad idea.

I can see seniors right now accidentally pressing that call button and worrying loved-ones only to find out its just another butt-dial from Grandma. And that monthly fee isn’t all that impressive either. Might as well get a smart watch or phone thats senior-friendly.

As someone who uses a stick/cane and a lover of all things tech, I kind of like it. My one concern though is, what’s it’s IP rating? It rains a lot here on the west coast of Wales and if the IP rating isn’t good enough all that tech could be dead in not a very long time.

In addition to the phone, the cane needs to also function as a gun and pepper spray deterrent.
