I’ve had the series 5 since they introduced the always on display, which was the biggest update imo. Nothing since has been worth getting a new watch for.

I have a 5 and the battery life has been dropping, I’ve been considering the 9 until I heard the rumors of the X. Now, after I listen to you, I think I may purchase the 9 after all. Second week of September we will see what Apple has.

the biggest feature of the Apple Watch is ECG. It’s a feature that was added in 4th series. I had the Original Apple Watch, Series 4 Apple Watch, and now series 7 Apple Watch. The ECG is still by far the most useful for me as I have occasional instances of Afib. The bigger screen of the 7 series vs 4 series makes a big difference as well. I don’t think blood pressure will be available anytime soon. There is no need to have blood pressure taken all the time. People who want to monitor high blood pressure can buy an inexpensive cuff monitor. Tech will always get thinner as materials used are changed. If they use a thinner display that takes less energy, Apple can make Apple Watch thinner while also increasing battery life. This is the natural progression of tech and not a game changing feature.

you should get the apple watch ultra. It doesn’t scratch. I’ve used it for scuba diving and felt the screen grind up on rock cliffs/shipwrecks. When I come back up to the surface and look at it, no scratches to be seen

IF THERES EVER A DEVICE THAT COMES OUT AND DOES CONSTANT BLOOD PRESSURE MONITORING IT WILL BE LIFE CHANGING. MY WHOLE FAMILY WILL HAVE ONE. WE CAN OFFSET SLEEP TRACKING WITH A SMALL MATTRESS PAD SENSOR LIKE THE CHILIPAD DOCKPRO, WHILE THE WATCH CHARGES ON ITS BELKIN STAND NEXT TO US WHILE WE SLEEP. THATS GREAT FOR NAKED SLEEPERS. HOPEFULLY CHILIPAD AND OTHERS CAN SEND THIER INFO INTO APPLE HEALTH. I ALSO WISH APPLE WOULD LOOSE THE RINGS AND ADOPT AN APP LAYOUT THAT LOOKS LIKE FITBIT. FITBIT NAILED THE APP BUT FAILED WITH HARDWARE.

The only feature that Apple should focus on is battery life and battery health. Series 7 using since end of Jan 2022 and right now its at 83% Battery Health. According to Apple’s website, “Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 1000 complete charge cycles.” Based on about 580 days of usage and charging from around 20-30% to full, that’s only ~500 complete charge cycles. Not the best to already be at 83% Health.

Upgraded from the Series 3 to the Series 7 big boy. Very happy with my 7 and not considering an upgrade any time soon. Like you expressed, each year is a small increment of new features.

Happy Series 3 owner here for waaaaay longer than I would have ever thought the Watch would remain relevant. Unless they really tank something, I can’t even imagine how, I’m going to get whatever the revised Ultra is this year. While everyone else may want thinner watches, I love me a big old watch with that big old screen and big old battery life!

We need more capable watches! All day battery life is a start, but how is there not more parity with the iPhone? I should be able to do just about everything from my wrist – at a glance, and then carry on with my day.
    Thanks Bridget!

Best watch I ever had was an A-Team LCD watch in the early 80’s. I even continued to wear after it broke because it was so cool. My parents tried to buy me a new watch, but I didn’t want one. Eventually I settled for a calulator watch—the endless fun of that “BOOBLESS” upside down numbers trick never seemed to tire in the school playground! No watch has had the same feeling since—havn’t even owned one for 20 years due to phones!

  54. Darth Sigil

All non-medical tech companies state that their product or its features are not for “medical” use.
If you don’t have diabetes, even if your have pre-diabetes, you don’t need to check your glucose. This means this feature is really for (you guessed it) those with diabetes. What the Apple watch does well is Heart Rate and aggregate all of your health related info. There are so many Blood Pressure monitors and thermometers that support Apple health that you can get more accurate readings when you need to. Many Blood Pressure Monitors aren’t accurate. You should get a “smart” scale, thermometer, tape measure, blood pressure monitor that are reliable and fully compatible with Apple Health. The Apple watch can notify you if you need to get a more precise reading from your other smart devices.

The Apple watch’s temperature feature is good. It does not get your core temperature, but you don’t always need that. Hence, the endless films of doctors, nurses and mothers touching a sick person’s forehead. You mat not get a precise temperature, but don’t need one unless it is a symptom that is putting you at risk. Women who ate trying to get pregnant will find this useful too.

Since I’ve had the AW from series 3,5 and 7 they dont work when you get a tattoo at the place of the sensors.
I wonder that there wasn’t anything on all channels with reports of tattoo issues with the sensors 😞
The only way to get the AW work perfect is to change to wear the AW from left to the right arm …
It will be nice to hear that I’m not alone with that problem.
Apple never response all my mails and nothing help what Apple support say!
The only thing is when you get a tattoo on your bodypart you wear the AW is the change the arm, if the other has no tattoo
For me the biggest surprise is to hear that Apple do something that the AW work with tattooed skin 🙂

I am still using my 42mm Apple Watch 1st generation (yes, the very first one, before series 1), and believe it or not, it looks and works as new, of course, it is not my daily driver but I enjoy it using it from time to time. My only question is, why Xiaomi, Samsung, Garmin, Fitbit, Amazfit, etc. can produce devices with a 2-week battery life or more, even with AMOLED displays, and Apple is stuck with a mediocre 1-day?
