Dawn Lippert: Community investment is the missing piece of climate action | TED Countdown
There’s been explosive investment in new technologies aimed at decarbonizing the planet. But climate investor Dawn Lippert says something key is missing from this strategy: investment in the local people these solutions would affect most. She shares how she’s bridging the gap between investment in new tech and local communities — by getting closer to…

“Which is the equivalent of taking 150 cars off the road per year”
So completely irrelevant?

Irrelevant if you don’t understand how less cars would be a huge step forward

That’s just the numbers in Hawaii though, it would be totally different if we implemented this nationwide and that’s still all the progress we made. That’s also better than doing absolutely nothing.

@X Baker sometimes “better that nothing” isn’t better and just distracts from the real solution just outside of your focus.

Lol… yep communities carry the burden not the boated war machine, global shipping on ships larger than the empire state building, and am array of mega corporations and billionaires who bribe the government legally throug lobbying, in order to continue to cause most of the destruction on this planet. Let’s not forget the privatization of energy, prisons, Healthcare, police, and so many other social systems that should member be run for profit.
Yes get the community involved, but the community is not financially responsible for the destruction of the planet that all the ruling class groups listed above have caused. Let’s get real here folks…. less than 1% of the population is doing the damage and we have the power to change 💪 but don’t sugar coat it or leave out the full story.

If everyone look after their own vegetable garden and we had solar powered cars, there won’t be any pollution! The most pollution is from the cars!
Zenn Exile
February 15, 2022 at 12:04 am
This is incorrect Petya. Most carbon comes from Agriculture. Farming. And cows are only a small part. Our food and how it is produced is the real problem. One that instead of being solved directly, is being ignored to protect the profits of a very small group of Industrial Agriculture companies. Like Monsanto, Dupont, all the manufacturers making farm equipment, and supplying farms with the energy they need to operate, as well as supplying all those previously mentioned corporations and their supply lines.
Cars are a stupid waste of resources and space. Absolutely. But the solution isn’t powering them differently. It’s phasing them out. Replacing private vehicles with rapid public transport. We could take just the tax money we spend settling insurance claims for automobile accidents and build a nationwide super fleet of electric buses, light rail, and long distance sub sonic air travel.
No one would need a car. And that’s the real solution. Erase the NEEDs that are stacked up against doing anything to change what’s happening right now.

@Rex Mann it’s actually, at 400PPM (this means parts per million) 0.04% That’s an order of magnitude higher. So how about you “Get Right”. You can stop being such a massive downgrade. But are you gonna?

@Zenn Exile Ever been in a situation where you couldn’t get away like not being able to drive yourself? This person wants to take your personal vehicle away altogether (because having nonstop authorizations associated with shots and whatever else they want to add to the list like, oh I don’t know maybe a social credit score eventually (Exactly where this is headed in case you can’t see the writing on the wall yet) to see IF you qualify for a “global” citizen uber account through your dumb phone sounds awesome. I say further enslavement is definitely the answer to saving the “planet” we aren’t on. You know what, despite the fact that event 201 happened right before it started and the gentleman who invented the pcr test mysteriously died right before it started… you have convinced me… the new world order really does have our best interest in mind. The rockefellers and Rothschilds and jesuits and zionists and freemasons all get a bad rep but maybe people just don’t understand tyrannical psychopaths as well as you do… they love you that much that’s why they strive for more power and control and world domination.

Zenn Exile
February 14, 2022 at 11:40 pm
zero, unless it’s wild life. Technology isn’t the solution. It’s the cause. You can’t fight fire with more fire. That doesn’t actually work unless you are trying to create a pre-burnt stretch of scorched earth. And that means we’re just letting it all burn and starting over. Not sure that’s the best plan.

What’s the matter with you!?!? CO2 is going to kill us all! There’s .005% of it in the atmosphere! And HALF of that is from us! We’ve got to stop driving and using electricity tomorrow or the consequences will be more dire than the previous predictions.
Zenn Exile
February 15, 2022 at 12:25 am
@Rex Mann 600PPM is enough to cause a loss of cognitive function in humans. Currently at around 420PPM, concentrations inside buildings are already as high as 900PPM. That means, where you sleep.
You are already losing cognitive function from over exposure to CO2. That’s probably part of why you posted something so ridiculous.
We’re expected to hit 900PPM+ by 2100. That’s 1400PPM where you sleep. That’s literally killing you. Poisoning you with CO2.
Maybe you should google things more thoroughly.

No, it’s actually not. This is a delusion. What’s missing from climate action is the same thing causing nearly all human caused climate change. Responsibility and Justice. This delusion that technology and awareness are going to save us from climate disaster needs to die. People are not the problem. Nor can they be part of ANY solution. Because normal people, local people, didn’t do this. Coke, Monsanto, Dupont, etc… these are the entities responsible. And until they are brought to justice and forced out, nothing will EVER change. Except that Climate.
500 BILLION dollars to solve absolutely nothing. With 1 BILLION dollars I could add a decade to the time it will take us to hit 1.5C by myself. With FIVE HUNDRED BILLION, I could reverse the ENTIRE human carbon footprint. I could reverse global warming and create a future where burning fossil fuels and billions of farting cows are actually necessary to keep carbon levels up.
If I had 500 billion USD, there would be no climate crisis. And I certainly wouldn’t be trying to dock my penis shaped testament to insecurity with the edge of space.

Fill a glass full of water and add ice cubes.. then mark a line where the water level is.. you will see as the ice melts that the water level does NOT rise
Alexander Fast
February 15, 2022 at 11:10 am
True, because the ice cube displaces as much volume, it will need in a liquid state
Mark the water level before you put the ice cubes in and then after, also after the ice cubes melted. This is the case if ice and snow, which is on land melts, will have the climate crises continues.
We are not concerned about the ice which floats in the ocean, but the ice on the land.
And not only about the ice, what is with extrema weather events (which happens more often: floods, drought, heat waves, cold snaps), about the degradation of land, the extinction of species, the social unrest and so on.
You only see the tip of the ice cube if it is submerged in water 😀 🙂

100% agree. To find the money.
We need to stop giving money for rent.
To create real community, everyone should be able to remove themselves from the grid, rent, garbage food, oil addiction, sugar process foods, and many many other areas we all spend our money. That’s how to pay for it, then community will have strength, health, intelligence and maturity..etc

The 1% should be investing money into climate action instead of hoarding funds and resources. The average persons wallet is already stretched thin. The products we are forced to buy through consumerism is what’s destroying the planet. The manufacturing of these products isn’t sustainable, because the government hasn’t made it a requirement. We pay enough for these products to solve climate action issues and keep the 1% the 1%. We average Joe’s don’t need to invest any additional funds into this. Filthy rich humans need to stop being greedy. The government needs to update it’s laws and contribute to climate action issues through a legal lense. If the government changed simple laws and taxed the filthy rich properly so that they can’t get out of paying millions in taxes on technicalities, we wouldn’t be having so many climate related problems. Jeff Besos is gearing up to leave the planet he is voluntarily destroying, and he’s not using his own money to do it. He’s paying nothing in taxes. That should be a crime.

great post Very detailed and concise video you posted buddy love your content it’s funny how some people out there still haven’t accepted that cryptocurrencies continue to reshape the world globally. It’s hard for anyone who’s against it these days. Although from a trader perspective I feel that we really need more experts in this field to educate newbies/investors on how the community works, lately the price of BTC has been fluctuating which means the market is currently open and You can’t tell if it’s going too bearish or bullish, this uncertainty pushes most traders away and forces investors to hold, I would say it’s totally wrong to just sit back and wait, maybe take a few losses along the way making, that is a wrong mindset for an investor, because as an investor, one finds ways to increase and top up more and more coins should be our number one goal in order to make a profit. It all depends on the pattern you are trading and also the source of your strategies. I started with 2 BTC and accumulated over 4.5 BTC in just 4 weeks with the right trading strategy given to me by an experienced trader Mr. Liam Bradley. His methods are top notch and profitable and he can easily be contacted via *Telegram [ Liamtrade1 ] and on WhatsApp [✙447360507585]* ….

Important that you add. The community should be paid for the value that they create. The challenge that corporates in general have is to appropriate more value than they create. That is the base of climate problem.
