lol the price of the ipad mini… I would rather buy an ipad air for that price

Started to losing interest with apple keynote event…

But the ipad mini has a15 while the ipad air has a14, they are the same price the difference is the display.

      September 14, 2021 at 11:58 pm

It’s niche seems to be for people specifically wanting a smaller display. It’s not luring anyone in terms of value.

I agree…I’d rather just pay extra for a 256gb Air or even a base 128gb 11 inch pro.

@apdroid geek its ok, we have our own preference. I can take chipset downgrade but upgrade from a14 to a15 seems not substantial to me

The 9th gen iPad is a way better value. At $499, i might as well spend an extra $50 on the Ipad air and get a bigger display

@sachit pathak what is the point in getting a tablet?

    • Cameron737 ___

      September 15, 2021 at 12:39 am

@sachit pathak everyone has their opinions but there is no reason the ipad needs to start at 10 inches. Ppl are all ready using there max iPhones for movies and gaming. 10 inches iPads are table and two handed devices, great for students but not good for a reasonably large but very promotable media device. Also IPhone Max’s are $1000 plus.

My thoughts exactly, I get that people like the size and portability of a mini but I personally would get an air. It looks amazing though

The mini has stereo speakers and Liquid Retina display.

I would buy if its 10.5 inch but unfortunately it isn’t😌idk why they keep 10.2 inch for a years..I don’t like the gap between the home button on 10.2

The entry ipad has one less color and it’s color set up is simpler with no difference in face only in the back and only a tiny jump to A13 instead of 14 to me seems like apple not wanting to make the air seem worthless and keep costs down on it, the jump to 64gb however is very nice and for me looking at getting a iPad as entry to Apple ecosystem a very alluring proposition just wishing 128gb still there as for trips 64gb quickly fills up where as 128gb I felt would have sufficed for me

I may jump to 256gb as I’d want it to last storage wise or even the mini 64gb for its power

I feel like the mini has such a small and niche user base. I really can’t see many people at all shelling out for a 5g ipad mini and all the accessories.

I just looked through the apple store if one could still get an iPhone 12 pro and I discovered they already removed it. I think it’s a marketing stunt to make sure people really buy the iPhone 13 pro models especially now that they have the exact same bodies and all. Care to look more into it CNET?

      September 14, 2021 at 11:50 pm

That’s not news. They’ve always discontinued certain models after every new product launch, the pro iPhones most especially. Local retailers probably still have leftover stock though.

Why are people still making 64gb devices?

    • Daniel Pacheco

      September 15, 2021 at 12:25 am

maybe because some people don’t need so much storage

    • Derrick Carson

@Daniel Pacheco Or maybe because Apple wants to sell you icloud space!

Honestly, the iPad mini price is too high. The iPad Air looks like a better deal.

  18. chun wei Hsu

    It’s 256 not 128 that’s why it’s more expensive … totally not necessary

Maybe an edge case, but I’d love to see a magic keyboard case for the Mini. Not sure I would want to do on-screen typing in any volume or carry around a Bluetooth keyboard. Interesting device however and I like the addition of more colors.

I’m getting the iPad mini even though it’s not really good value but it fills a niche for me as a “toy” while my 12.9in iPad pro is for work and is a companion for my computer when I do CAD and CAM stuff and/or notes. The mini is more of a portable entertainment device but also since now it has gen2 pencil support I think it can also be useful for work sometime since the 12.9in pro is pretty heavy and big. I think the mini is going to be a big win for Apple

ipad air 4 second hand on ebay under 450 bucks is the very best option.

  23. seiji-kun

the new iPad mini would have been cooler a year or two ago

  24. Daniel Mann

    September 15, 2021 at 1:18 am

Honestly, if they just updated the base iPad with USB C and a more updated design (lack of home button) I’d be perfectly content with a base iPad…but of course they won’t do that but that’s all I was hoping for. A new base iPad with the home buttonless design aesthetic and USB C to boot. And maybe support for Apple Pencil 2 but I guess I’ll keep waiting for that redesign to happen…if ever. Also I wish they’d just do away with 64gb standard and move up to 128gb standard for all models.
