I think, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! There are some companies that are cutting their workers salaries, during this Covid season. So you expect me to believe that employers are going to pay their workers 40 hrs for a 32 hour work week?! I don’t think so. No thank you. Please, leave my work week alone! I’m satisfied working 8 hrs a day 5 days a week!

California lawmakers are working as hard as they can to make their biggest source of income run away.

Don’t do that, be part of the solution and not the problem, life is easier that way.

.. post pandemic avg day across all companies Is generally 10 -12 hours so makes sense to have 4 weekdays..However based on increased productivity we might see 40 plus hour week to 50 plus hours week. So be ready for exactly opposite to happen.

Well when they pay stay the same as working 5 days, I’m fine with it, but I don’t trust this, when I get less paid, then how can I stay in California, that is already a overpriced state, I don’t think you are not productive, there is many solutions for this, reduce workweek, and coming from Europe, and worked there, it was good, but the problem is how implement this in the US, making this work, I have my doubts !!

Seriously? So they legitimately believe that employers—–struggling to even stay open under the HEAVY CA taxes/covid restrictions/fines/wage increases etc—–can afford to pay 40 hrs for a 32 hr work wk?? Literally spending 20% more money for 20% LESS value/work?!

@Melvin Childs I have no solution, just list the possible consequences

How about up to a max 4 day work week and or only 6 hour max shift per day? More industrious people like me can still chose to try to start their own business in their free time and work all they want. Until the unemployment rate is zero we should keep decreasing the amount of max hours until all those who want to work can. Rather than just blind support for all, redo EDD for immediate skill, knowledge, wisdom, and experience to appropriate job level placement for capable people. Best, set max work hours and days of the week to a variable amount to accomplish zero unemployment rate for all those who want to earn a living.

Yes 4 day work week ✊

I feel like one point he missed is that with 3 days a week off, “exempt” employees (higher paying, salaried job) are more likely to visit/spend in places more likely to employ non-exempt (hourly) people, and potentially creating more jobs there.
