Applies to the Covid vax as well. What happens if I do nothing? Is this really necessary? We are slowly finding out that we were coerced in to enhancing the bottom line of big pharma corporations that had captured their regulatory agency, and that the long-term health costs are going to exceed the benefits.

Could you not ask the same thing about catching covid as well? What happens if you do nothing? What are the risks? Is this necessary? What are the options?
No matter how you slice it, getting a vaccine has statistically greater outcomes than catching covid. People do not know the long-term outcomes of catching covid. Tens of millions of people died from covid, many people experience longer side effects from covid, there has been large amounts of lost revenue for both individuals and businesses from people not being able to work because they have covid. The duration of illness is much longer for those who are unvaccinated compared to those who are vaccinated. You are much more likely to not get covid multiple times if you are vaccinated. And if you’re talking about long-term risks, people experience incidences of cardiovascular events after getting covid at a FAR higher rate than those who get vaccines. The long-term tissue damage is high for people who catch covid. ALL available information suggests that personal risks of getting covid are much higher than getting vaccinated for covid. People saying we are slowly finding out evidence to the contrary have yet to produce any of that evidence.
If people are afraid to get vaccinated, I wish they would just admit it. Needles are unpleasant. But the societal costs of covid are so much greater than the societal costs of getting vaccinated. For those who are fortunate enough to live in places with ready vaccine access, large amounts of damage, financial costs, and HUMAN LIVES could have been saved if people just admitted they were frightened. The welfare of essential workers in medicine, and service, and education, and many more industries could have been aided if people weren’t harassing people because they were too afraid to get vaccinated. The welfare of everyone could have benefited from reduced social isolation, especially children. Small businesses wouldn’t have closed from reduced business because people wanted to (wisely) AVOID covid. Confidence in the idea of medicine, and science in general would be much higher if people were willing to admit that vaccines are scary because needles are unpleasant. We wouldn’t be seeing increased spread of polio and measles because people have been terrified to get vaccinated because of all of the misinformation and fear-mongering that’s out there. These were SOLVED PROBLEMS in wealthy countries.
I’ve tried to be compassionate towards the people who were hesitant to get vaccinated. I’ve been extremely patient with people, I provided all of the available information and emotional support, and I have commended them for overcoming their fears when it has happened. For those who were actually hesitant because of their lack of understanding or they’re genuine fear of needles, I can still show compassion for those people. But for those who aren’t willing to admit that and are trying to say that there is a giant conspiracy out there to make big companies rich AROUND THE PLANET that has fooled NEARLY EVERY epidemiologist and scientific professional who knew anything about medicine/biology BEFORE them pandemic, and that somehow you’ve stumbled upon “the truth” to and spread that disinformation around, you have ONLY made society worse. If covid-19 had the same fatality rate as SARS or MERS, those same people who were afraid of needles would be more afraid of dying but right now they’re fear of needles convinced them roll the dice on the welfare of other human beings because they personally would probably be fine. Many of the same people who are against trying to make the problem go away, we’re the same people who were entirely fine profiting from hoarding N95 masks for themselves, and selling them for huge mark-ups.
The camaraderie that you’ve chosen to manufacture out of your fear has created untold suffering. Your pride has cost untold people untold suffering. It wasn’t worth it, and you don’t deserve sympathy. Don’t bother replying, I do not care what a person who’s personal pride is greater than the welfare of other humans has to say. Well this rant was cathartic for me, maybe it’s an excuse for you to look into the mirror, be honest with yourself for a moment, and try to be a better human. Maybe your conspiracy-filled mind will look towards the various companies that made lots of money off of spreading this disinformation. Like social media companies and political pundits. I’m not going to hold my breath. There is no karma in the universe, but I can at least be thankful that statistically there are fewer people who to spread that information. Because they died, and their future influence is diminished. I just wish they were brave enough to have chosen a better cause to die for.
The outcomes of vaccine hesitancy have been terrible. Was it necessary? What were the risks? What were the other options? What happened because people did nothing?

Well not really. The vaccine was and still is an important public health measure. I support anybody’s right to refuse it but you have to accept the reality that it’s a selfish decision and you’re contributing to the problem.

Quite often (actually almost always) my doctors would get frustrated because answers lead to more detailed questions, and often I am left to find answers to my own questions.
