Professional balisong flipper Corbin Lovins explain balisong tricks in 24 levels of difficulty. Balisong flipping goes all the way back to the Philippines. The balisong was used in traditional Filipino combative arts, and balisong flipping was used to create openings during combat. Corbin explains how he’s mastered balisong flipping, and how you can go from the simplest flips to the most complex.

I’m Filipino. As a kid (before internet), I remember sitting in a bench one summer, watching in awe as a “motorista” (a motorcycle taxi for more remote farming villages with no public transport) showed us tricks with the “veinte y nueve”. It’s a bit weird seeing it become an international hobby. LOL Even Pewdiepie has one!

I hate these videos because the first step is always something like: just open the blade
Then the second step is like: grow another hand and throw the blade in the sky then catch it behind your back then do a triple summersault slide the blade along the floor then run and kick it up and catch it in your hands 🙂

No offense, but knives are a tool (for cooking or self defense). Never in my life have I ever been curious as to knife “tricks”, and I’ve used as many knives for self defense as i have cooking, and I’m an avid collector of quality knives, of which butterfly knives break too easily. That being said, tricks or not, butterfly knives are about as good for self defense as a cheap butter knife

    • Orwhynotrandom

youtu.be/6To2s_4Zs-g There’s more than one way to do a neck catch. Catching the blade with the jugular is the best way. Cool flippy flip and good night.

Obviously he has done this a few times. The fact that he can break it down so easily shows you his level of mastery. If you have never tried to teach people, it can be eye opening

honestly, it’s more impressive to me that someone can clearly explain each of these tricks and not confuse themselves (let alone the viewers) with the verbal explanation of something that I’m sure has become very largely muscle memory at this point.
