I’m Filipino. As a kid (before internet), I remember sitting in a bench one summer, watching in awe as a “motorista” (a motorcycle taxi for more remote farming villages with no public transport) showed us tricks with the “veinte y nueve”. No offense, but knives are a tool (for cooking or self defense). Never in my life have I ever been curious as to knife “tricks”, and I’ve used as many knives for self defense as i have cooking, and I’m an avid collector of quality knives, of which butterfly knives break too easily. That being said, tricks or not, butterfly knives are about as good for self defense as a cheap butter knife
