While the mechanics look top notch, they still have a very long way to go with their AI software and it absolutely is a toy regardless of what the manual states.

      May 11, 2025 at 1:34 pm

The software is not theirs, it’s a fork from Hugging Face, based in the US. Hugging Face has everything open source, they also have training kits for walking, jumping, etc like humans and animals. The kit costs very little.

which mode has it crash into walls?

    • @Ausf

      May 11, 2025 at 3:32 pm

He put it in manual mode. Told it to go forward. It did. Then he realized it wasn’t in autonomous mode. AI might be dumb, but regular intelligence of meat humans is still worse.

This has got to be really cheap or it just looks like first gen junk compared to bostons spot 💩

    • @Frieren55

      May 11, 2025 at 12:30 pm

You obviously have never seen them together in real life. Boston is junk when you see them together in Robot shows. Boston always loses in competitions. All you see are their youtube ads that are worthless in real life

    How was battery life?

Do a comparison with Boston Dynamics.

    • @Frieren55

      May 11, 2025 at 12:27 pm

They already did in Robot shows. Boston Dynamics is a big loser at performance, specially obstacle courses. And the price of Boston Dynamics is $75,000. At a cost of $2,000 without tariffs, you can get at least 38 of these robots against 1 Boston dog. No match at all! That’s why BYD, DJI, Huawei, etc are banned in the USA. I’m surprised that CNET was even able to get one of the low end models.

  11. @PaulRodvik-jy3kr

    May 11, 2025 at 12:16 pm

    Add ground penetrating radar!

  12. @Frieren55

    May 11, 2025 at 12:28 pm

This a low-end model that you can get for $2000 in Asia

  16. @SpaceLifeMo

Manual what manual…where we are going has no roads!

  17. @DeclanRyanRising

    May 11, 2025 at 1:43 pm

If its not a toy than what is its purpose? I can see how it would be good for bomb detection or detonation, or perhaps investigating animal habitats or scouting terrain. Otherwise seems like its premature for mass market. Flying drones seem more usefull and better at navigation.

    • @Ausf

      May 11, 2025 at 3:38 pm

It’s a toy in the same way flying drones, or RC vehicles are. Its purpose is up to you to decide.

I can only imagine Dennis Nedri ( Jurassic Park ) teasing this “dog” with a stick and saying ” Go fetch, go fetch stupid! No wonder you are extinct”

I would rather have a real dog. I don’t like robots, especially the one you have. Very creepy

  22. @vulpo

    May 11, 2025 at 6:39 pm

This seems like more of a toy. Are there any practical uses that would justify buying one? If so, I would like to see how well it performs those tasks.

This is a hardware, equivalent to your computer, and you need to decide what software (AI) to install. Of course, Yushu Technology also has its own relatively mature AI, but until the program is perfect, they only provide carriers. Of course, this is the most cost-effective mechanical dog you can buy. They have reserved program interfaces, and if you are not a researcher or enthusiast in the relevant field, you can only treat it as a toy. Chess is a toy in your hands, a tool to win glory in front of masters.
