TLDR; China doesn’t want Amazons, Facebooks and Googles. If corporations get too big, they may prevent small startups from succeeding to take off.

It’s okay. About time, the rich gives back to the society which gives rise to them in the first place. This is the Chinese way. Nothing wrong. Short term fears will be there but in the long term, it will be good for everybody.

*This is the reason why China can never be a superpower. It’s a communist country. A communist country can be a superpower within their country and among their people, but when it comes to global supremacy, a country needs to have democratic values where there is free speech, free press, free media, and basic human rights.*

Cracking down on corporation monopolistic behaviour is good for startups and innovations. In US, the CEOs are asked silly questions in widely televised Congressional show hearing and no action taken afterwards.

@Stephanie Hale “Corporations are made by people, corporations are run by people, corporations serve people – at the end of the day, everything is about the people.
“That logic applies to any collection of people, for example, Mafia..

China is growing by leaps and bounds and will not kill their golden goose. They will restructure and the world will invest in Chinese companies as they have great value. USA markets are full of regulations and our markets too are manipulated by the government/banks by simply printing money and controlling interest. China will be the next dominant financial power. I love the USA but this government prefers fighting wars that cost trillions of dollars instead of investing in our infrastructure and education. Now let’s hope that both super powers can coexist and even collaborate with each other.

China has enough business to support Chinese businesses. Is Amazon closing? Walmart? Dollar General? Harbor freight? Made in China. If China is in trouble, the US is in collapse.

    • DontUputThatEvilOnMe

      September 6, 2021 at 3:08 pm

Well you are right but if China stays this way as the factory of the world it will need to keep its costs down compared to other countries. Still India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia are all cheaper labor markets. China is a one trick pony only offering cheap labor in which the developed world cannot. If China keeps down this path and doesn’t open up and liberalize its economy more instead of closing down and shutting out. It will never be able to fully become a high income country.

    • U.P. dan

      September 6, 2021 at 4:28 pm

@DontUputThatEvilOnMe Well let’s not forget that China is outsourcing production also for those cheaper products. Asia, Africa and it seems to also be concentrating on the other half of price advantage which is shipping. Reading zerohedge reports on shipping is eye opening for world trade shipping rates.

Common Prosperity is going to level the playing field by bringing everything to zero. Zero growth. Zero capital raised. Resulting in a nothing economy. Brilliant.
