You are missing the point. Meta and X are collecting data but the US government is not using their data to target Americans. China is using TikTok to collect data to target Americans which is very dangerous…and this is why the US seeks to band TikTok or for it to be sold to a US entity.

We will be going back to 2015 with this ban, the algorithms used in other social media platforms are nowhere near tiktoks. The US will lose a massive platform that helps people share ideas and spread information. The US is going to be even further behind technology wise. Not sure where this obsession comes from to go back to the past and this cold war mentality
