It’s great that Dr Onishi could do another video here.

It’s such a nice change for someone to talk about all the infection possibilities with their injuries, not just ‘Marv’s dead’ or ‘Harry’s dead’.

And now everybody knows why this movie acutally should be at least R rated. Gosh i hate this unfunny movie

What kind of medical bills are they facing? Multiple specialists, a week or two in ICU, and PT at the low end.

The burn to the hand would be a 3rd degree because in the 2nd film you do see the scar on his hand

    1. shout out to Dr. Onishi for this incredible breakdown of the most infamous trauma conga line in movie history.

    2. shout-out to the stunt actors who had to do *all those stunts* to only LOOK painful, cuz there’s a lot going on in them.

Seriously 😳. You have such a need for people to know you’re a trauma surgeon that you have to make this video? This is what is bad about the new generation in these positions. Self centered on a much higher level than the surgeons years ago. It’s dangerous.

If this video were recorded with a Slavic doctor it would be at least 20 minutes shorter and consist of the following two phrases repeated 29 times: “Put a cold pack on it. I prescribed you paracetamol.”

How is the shovel to the head more severe than the paint can to the face or the crowbar to the ribs? She didn’t even mention how the paint can could have smashed the face itself, and the crowbar likely could have gone right through the body and been fatal

    December 16, 2021 at 10:04 pm

NOT trying to disprove anything or anyone… It’s a thing that happened. I was “blown” out of a second story window and crashed through a tool shed. It was a propane gas explosion, and I was on my rush-rounds to open every window I could get my grubby mitts on at the time… I’d noticed the smell, and rushed for my life… AND then… boom.

You can suggest it was a matter of me being tough. You can say it was luck. You can say whatever you like…

I’m only here to say it happened. I survived it, and didn’t even go to E.R… I walked it off. BUT for better or worse, it was a thing. ;o)

I’ve always said Harry gets it worse in the first one, Marv gets it worse in the second. And I guess Harry’s hand burn was 3rd-degree, because he does still have the scar in part 2.

On the explosion injury, it’s pretty unrealistic. Kevin filled the toilet with kerosene. Yeah, it’s jet fuel, but in its liquid form, it’s not as volatile. Kerosene needs to vaporize in order to combust well. You can drop a match in a pool of kerosene and it won’t catch on fire. Some kerosene on the surface may evaporate a bit and combust, but it won’t be that much. The match will go out once submerged in the kerosene

Couldn’t help but cringe every time they fell flat on their back. She mentioned all sorts of bone and organ injury, but I’ve always wondered if a fall like that can also cause enough spine damage to cause paralysis or something…

I like pellet guns. Fun and safety fact pellet guns depending on the type can be pumped up for more velocity so have fun but be very careful.

  136. Andy C

    December 21, 2021 at 12:02 am

The things they don’t see can be attributed to tunnel vision. They’re in a fight, they’re seething mad, and in pain. They aren’t thinking critically, they’re responding instinctually, nobody else would have seen that wire in that situation

  139. Haven

    December 21, 2021 at 12:47 am

I just saw a tweet yesterday saying “Marv stepping on the nail is worse than anything I’ve ever seen in any horror movie” and I gotta agree, that is so hard to watch. Which is funny because it’s one of the less severe injuries but man the squick factor is insane.

Sorry, but no. Harry’s second fall on the stairs was definitely worse than the first fall. And the shovel in the face is no where near as bad as the bricks to the face. Other than that, everything else seems pretty accurate.

  145. A. D. Gardenhire

    December 21, 2021 at 6:03 pm

I like how she called Kevin a psychopath. Accurate.

  156. Gostovah S

I love that some of the injuries she doesn’t even really respond to — as she has no experience as a Trauma Surgeon and it would more be a mortician with the knowledge =P

  157. Tbongo

    December 21, 2021 at 9:36 pm

I just like all these big, scientific words and discussions, and then we get “big head bonk” as a description of how to get an injury

I think she skipped mentioning skull fractures. The falling iron, falling bricks, and falling 100 lb cement bag would almost certainly fracture the skull and lead to instant death.

Into 6 min in the video, unable to watch the trauma anymore. As a child i love-hated the movie but now, I hate it completely.

  167. skylerwd6

    December 22, 2021 at 12:05 am

I was hoping for some more commentary on the 100-lb bag of concrete falling four stories directly into a person’s face and spine.

  174. sharazar

Dr. Mike already made this video last year. Both Wired and DoctorER channel decided to copy him this year. Wired released a 2 weeks after DoctorER.
Can’t you come on with original content?

  181. lajmh

    December 22, 2021 at 7:18 pm

I would add one more injury. Tarantulas are poisonous so if Marv got bitten, he better get antidote.

  182. Jaron Goh

    December 22, 2021 at 8:42 pm

Harry and Marv should have been dead halfway through it all.

  183. BlueBerry2

    December 22, 2021 at 9:26 pm

I would definitely love to be treated by her.. I mean seriously she is sooooo jaw dropping beautiful 😍

  184. LR W

She should review the scene in Lott where Gandalf hits Denethor multiple times with his staff

  185. Kyle

    December 22, 2021 at 9:48 pm

I haven’t seen these movies since the late 90s/early 2000s at the very latest, so I’d forgotten how cringe-inducing that puncture wound with the nail was.

  186. Ser Castamere

    December 22, 2021 at 10:22 pm

  192. Daniel Mac Conna Dubh

    December 23, 2021 at 1:22 am

What an erudite and learned person. Such exceptional knowledge of the human body. No doubt she is an excellent surgeon. Perhaps Wired could have the good doctor make some basic CPR, emergency response videos for general public to assist. Also love the sleigh bell as Psycho knife slash.

  193. Quadraxis

    December 23, 2021 at 11:57 am

Quick summary: They should have died halfway through the first movie.

  202. Skai R/T

Oh her delivery and insights were great.

Please get her back in for more trauma assessments Wired!

  207. harryc657

    December 23, 2021 at 6:36 pm

So Kevin not only fought two buglers, but two vengeful men who has endured trauma and injuries that would break or kill a man five times over.

  208. David Parkes

    December 23, 2021 at 7:32 pm

“Harry & Marv should be suspicious that they are invading the house of some sort of psychopath.”

I mean, the Fanon (aka NOT canon) theory of Kevin growing up, changing his name to John Kramer & becoming the Jigsaw Killer exists for a reason.

  209. Ayn R. Key

    December 23, 2021 at 8:10 pm

You under-estimate the paint can damage. At that weight and velocity, it will cause massive bone damage in the area of the eyes and nose effectively crushing their faces. Even worse, the momentum would basically snap their necks and kill them at that point.

  210. William Irwin

    December 23, 2021 at 8:53 pm

No mention of the impact of the iron to the face at all? just the spinal axial loading injury and his head hitting the floor. Nothing on the face? cool.

  211. lavo 3108

    December 23, 2021 at 10:39 pm

I loved how she pointed out, Kevin is a dangerous person (4:12 and 16:50)

  212. Nightshade

    December 23, 2021 at 10:47 pm

I remember seeing videos of her as a surgical resident. She has come such a long way in her career!

  213. Jen'ari-asha

    December 23, 2021 at 11:23 pm

There is a very famous (and extremely tragic) case of a goalkeeper in football (soccer) who was kneed in the head during a match, fracturing his skull and rupturing an artery, killing him.

It’s incredible how tough but simultaneously fragile human beings are. Sometimes people are shot in the head and live and other times, like in the aforementioned instance, just a knee to the head can cause irreversible and fatal injuries.

So I’m guessing a lot of these injuries could easily be fatal, but that someone could also survive them. That it basically comes down to luck and random chance

  214. Jennifer Rydell

    December 23, 2021 at 11:29 pm

Marv seems to like kissing the floor.lol!

  215. Kalron

    December 23, 2021 at 11:45 pm

Watching this thing makes me feel like they should have died so many times over.

  216. Atticus Cinched

oh my god I would LOVE this for the show Hannibal
