While I still finding it a little silly, it works with the character and you can’t deny that it made an impact. The Harely Quinn DCverse cartoon Bane is VERY similar to Tom’s! Could be lampooning it a bit, but still it works for the character! “Coffee is my reckoning!!!”

My only issue at all is that Bane wasn’t of South America.
Like that’s half the character in that Bane starts as mostly a cartel boss and then elevates past that. I do get they didn’t have time to go into that though.

They turned that character into something that at once felt very organic and real and yet completely over the top…it’s a shame how the character’s story ended, so anti climactically but there you go.

I think there are different ways of laughing at something or making light of it. One is because it’s stupid or poorly thought out and an obvious lack of care was given to it. Tom Hardy’s performance is absolutely the opposite, and for the same reason people send up Darth Vader, or The Joker, is because it is so great and we all love it.

Bane is supposed to be a Luchador. Meaning Mexican or Spanish heritage. People made fun of it cuz it just didn’t make sense. He didn’t have any of the looks of Bane. Besides a little muscle. I think Tom Hardy was the best for the part. But I feel like they should have done more.

It captures one of the most important things about Bane… he’s not a brute, he’s intelligent and kinda classy.
Typically this is portrayed as him having a suave Hispanic accent and being quick witted to match with Batman, but this version just sounds like some sort of fancy stage actor who could snap you in two…

I don’t understand why people don’t like his portrayal of bane, it was probably the best part of the movie. It was a good movie not a great one, but it wasn’t due to the acting. It was due to the plot and plot holes that were in the movie. Most people just hop on the bandwagon of hating the movie and they can’t even tell you why they hate it.

As a teen I didn’t know much about Bane, didn’t even know he was Hispanic. Regardless now as an adult, I think he didi an amazing job at creating a new version for the movie instead of try to copy anything else.

Men just had a different cadence and depth to their voices in the 1800s and even into the early 1900s. It was a tougher time. Guys like Hardy, edgerton, and Day-Lewis seems to understand this well. Even Lincoln who sounded kind of weird could still chop down an axe and pick up younger children to ceiling height to prank his mother as a teen.

Christopher Nolan is an amazing creative leader and director. His movies seem so choreographed and precise, but then you hear stories of how adaptable he is with actors and how he lets them make huge decisions with characters. He’s a true collaborator, but still maintains control of his vision.

Not sure many people actually have a problem with how bane sounds. Its the fact that they added the muffled mask sound ontop and made the dialogue really hard to actually hear.
Thats an ADR and editing problem more then the accent.

I had an issue when i was younger with a PSL that my dad and I were trying to reload for. Online info wasn’t super available at that point and we didn’t realize that the 7.62x54R is in fact not a .308 bore but it’s more like .310-311 (basically the same as .303 British). It would shoot amazing child not or do well with the spammo surplus stuff but it was an 8 minute gun after the first shot.
I sold it and realized this after making a bunch of money on it but yes bore diameter errors are crippling.

its interesting because when the film came out, it was laughed at. We all did Bane impressions as a joke, but over time, either through desensitization or simply as time passed with repitition it became iconic

I know a lot of you all is going to hate me for it, but I loved Bane more than the Joker. It’s a personal opinion though. Maybe I’m biased towards Tom hardy, because I felt his character in the Peaky Blinders is best, ofcourse after Tommy. And also I wanted him to obliterate his brother in the Warriors movie . Lol
