I’m assuming there’s some kind of UV protection in that thing. Otherwise the sun coming up won’t be that fun.

2 questions: First, I assume since the ship is floating, and not “falling” in orbit, that passengers won’t be weightless, Right? And second… regarding “only 20 people in that region of space”: Does that mean those orbiting in that region in the past and not astronauts on there way to the moon passing through?… and does the ISS not apply here? Is that a Different region?
Mark Martin
July 21, 2020 at 6:07 pm
Spacecraft operate far above that region.
Fluorine, Uranium, Carbon, Potassium
July 21, 2020 at 4:27 pm
Less than 20 people? that’s a boldface lie. 220 people have been to the iss. Without including all the manned space tests and apollo missions you are already off by a factor of 11.
Mark Martin
July 21, 2020 at 6:06 pm
That’s all true. What she means is that very few have _loitered_ in that region. Crews on their way to and from orbit pass through very quickly. They don’t stay at that height and do experiments.

July 21, 2020 at 9:33 pm
i will assume that one can not scuba dive and take this balloon in the same 24 hours /
there was talk decades ago of an elevator system i like this balloon idea // too bad could not make the ships already in space meet up with the balloon system and use the balloon as a delivery system for humans to space … less Gs taking the balloon as the lady says and there are more folks that could hit space faster with a system with less Gs
get r done would say larry the cable guy

Comments saying that 100,000 ft isn’t enough to see curvature are incorrect. Look up images of what 100,000 ft looks like, or you can search this video “Balloon with GoPro to Near Space”
the max height in that video is 90,000 ft and you can see the curvature of earth just like in the pictures the company is showing

Bar would be a bad idea. But this experience if its affordable to the people who have resource after their basic amenities are satisfied. This will help those people to understand the right thing about earth and space if its seen through the right eyes.

Another Hindenburg, why not helium at that premium price?
ecp4500
July 22, 2020 at 11:12 pm
helium is a rare finite resource on earth and we can’t generate it. Hydrogen is abundent and a better lifting gas.

The balloon will be filled with hydrogen? That element loves to bond with anything because it has only one electron. A famous blimp blew up due to being filled with hydrogen, than later blimps were filled with helium; 2 electron element , more stable.

July 22, 2020 at 11:24 pm
Is there Any gravity at that height?
Ghanasyam Sajeesh
July 23, 2020 at 4:20 am
They haven’t learned anything from the Hindenburg disaster. Hydrogen is an inflammable gas and the balloon could pop at the edge of the space due to the pressure difference. Like when the whether balloons reaches very high altitudes. Let’s say the balloon pops even though it’s made of very strong fibers. So, does the craft has the the ability to resist the burning from air resistance, parachutes to safely land and strong base to take the landing impact?
