Too big to fail now where else have i heard this ? Let me just iterate how it’s bad being a big org dipping toes into everything , take Sony they clearly mismanaged few portfolios/units , sony laptops hailed in the beginning to be of highest quality HD stuff was a truly expensive buggy tech period (sold it off) , xperia phones now that was really working in their favour with all in house premium attached to it but in the end it just became an expensive brick that wasn’t innovative like samsung now they just make most of the mobile unit by selling mobile components rather than phones , playstation vita now that’s purely being lazy ….. before the switch hit the market sony blamed mobile gaming as a reason for the poor sales but they had a loyal psp fanbase & nostalgia to bank on but they simply left it upto 3rd party developers to really make good games for the ps vita which they had little incentive to do so in the first place seeing a pattern ? Well it’s not just enough to have a large org with huge pile of cash stuffed into your locker , you gotta feel the market & adapt each product to make it a best seller . I still remember in pre-smartphone era where nokia & ericsson was the gold standard & samsung was playing catch up ….. How the tables have turned.

I love these blast from the past, mini-documentary videos. Especially the dramatic subject matter that was so darn important to so many of us gadget geeks back in the day. I do think think the “smartphone wars” are basically over. Apple and Google have come a long way with their respective platforms. Nice to finally be able to exist in both camps using various products all these years later without sacrificing much in quality and execution. What a ride it was lads and lasses!

I was of the impression the mathematical term at after which Google is named is “googol” (a 1 followed by 100 zeros). A “googolplex” is 10 raised to the power of a googol.
